About the Job:
The Nutrition Group has an open position of Catering and Culinary Specialist in our K-12 Division. This position will assist in overseeing the daily catering and culinary operations throughout the district, in various buildings, in accordance with the policies and procedures of the USDA, the Department of Education, school district, and The Nutrition Group, within the framework of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs.
Catering Responsibilities:
- Working directly with Food Service Directors to Implement and Execute All catering events in the district, communicate with school staff regarding needed caterings, on-site management of events
- Maintain all catering equipment, organize, verify in working order
- Events may take place during school hours, evenings, and some weekend functions. Availability for all events is required.
Culinary Operations Responsibilities:
- Assist cooks with preparing an attractive and nutritious meal in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness and warmth while adhering to state and federal guidelines.
- Assist in training new and current cooks with recipe adherence, production, and equipment usage
- Ensure Standardized Recipe are utilized, HACCP guidelines are adhered to, Daily paperwork and documentation is completed accurately
- Maintain cost control and commodity usage, adherence to written menu
- Proper written and spoken communication with client, vendors, and team
- Fill in as cook in school where needed
Qualifications:
- Special Event/Catering and Culinary Experience Required
- ServSafe Certification
- Knowledge of commercial equipment, use and maintenance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a positive attitude
- Must obtain clearances and pass criminal background checks
