Job Description
The Dietary Aide supports the food service team in preparing and serving nutritious meals to residents in a nursing home setting. This role ensures that residents receive meals that meet dietary requirements while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and customer service.
- Assist with the preparation and portioning of meals according to prescribed diets
- Serve meals and beverages to residents in dining areas or resident rooms
- Set up and break down dining areas, including tables and serving stations
- Follow special dietary instructions (e.g., low-sodium, diabetic, pureed diets)
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas in compliance with health regulations
- Store food properly and label items according to facility policies
- Interact respectfully with residents, accommodating their needs and preferences
- Assist in stocking supplies and reporting inventory needs
- Follow all safety, infection control, and food handling procedures
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous food service or healthcare experience is a plus but not required
- Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
