Contract Length/ Days: (2025-2026/ 260 Days; M-F 6:00 am � 2:30 pm)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Colorado driver's license
- First Aid/CPR within six months
- Asbestos Operations & Maintenance Certification within six months
- Mold Awareness Certification within six months
- Requires at least four years of verifiable experience as a master carpenter and completion of a recognized carpentry journeyman program or experience
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective: This position requires master-level knowledge of cabinetry, casework, rough carpentry, finish carpentry, layout, roofing, building maintenance materials, and practices.
Essential Functions:
- Designs, estimates, builds, installs, inspects, and repairs a wide variety of custom cabinets, counters, display cases, and various other furniture, fixtures, and equipment under the supervision of the Department Manager.
- Designs, estimates, builds, installs, and repairs walls, ceilings, floors, windows, doors, and other building components per applicable building codes under the supervision of the Department Manager.
- Repairs or replaces floor and wall tile, drywall, lockers, restroom partitions, and various other finishes. Performs finish trim work with a high degree of completeness.
- Inspects roofs semiannually (spring and fall), plans repair schedules, and repairs roof leaks.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply for City permits as required.
- Performs moderate brick and block repair.
- Maintains accurate records of installations, repairs, materials used, and time spent on projects using the district's computerized work order system.
- Willingness to carry an on-call phone, be on call, and/or respond to calls 24/7.
Additional Qualifications: Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and practices of the carpentry trade and building maintenance and repair. Ability to follow and understand oral and written instructions. Ability to deal tactfully with the public and staff. Ability to respond under pressure to immediate situations while maintaining courteous and professional relationships with staff members and the public. Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to use good judgment and common sense. Ability to follow established safety practices. Ability to work independently and with others. Ability to read and interpret plans (blue prints). Excellent math skills. General knowledge of HVAC control circuits and supply and return systems. Ability to perform all functions of the position.
Other Duties:
- Drives various fleet vehicles daily.
- Maintains assigned assets, vehicles, and tools.
- Welds objects as necessary.
- Must be skillful in the proper selection and application of various types of paints, stains, wood finishes, and adhesives.
- Inspects work performed by contractors for proper installation procedures and materials.
- May participate in asbestos removal with proper training.
- May be required to work any hours or any shift.
- Removes snow and responds to emergencies.
- Knowledge and skills sufficient to perform all duties of the position.
- Prefers a work environment where flexibility, ability to deal with conflict, a high tolerance for stress, an ability to quickly internalize information and make informed decisions, and long hours are a part of the assignment.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Willingness to temporarily act in the capacity of the Department Manager in their absence. Directs the activities of temporary employees and interns.
Work Environment/ Physical Demands: Ability to sit for long periods of time, numerous distractions, visual, auditory and ambulatory acuity important. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
