COVINGTON INDEPENDENT PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT  

POSITION VACANCY 

 

POSITION: PROJECT HOME COORDINATOR/FOSTER CARE POINT OF CONTACT 

SCHOOL/PROGRAM: CENTRAL OFFICE � DISTRICTWIDE  

DATE: MAY 19, 2026

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • A degree in the social, educational, or human services field preferred.

  • Prior experience or education in counseling, social work, or in human services and case management is preferred.

  • Two or more years of experience in the above areas is preferred.

  • Have working experience with families from different ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.

  • Have knowledge of community and service providers.

  • Displays the ability to relate in a warm and supportive manner.

  • Valid driver's license.

 

KNOWLEDGE OF:  

  • Liaison services between the student, parents, community, and school.

  • Record-keeping techniques.

  • Operations of computer terminal and data entry techniques.

  • Oral and written communication skills.

  • Research methods and report writing techniques.

  • Laws, rules, and regulations related to assigned activities.

  • Policies and objectives of assigned programs and activities.

  • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.

  • Child abuse and domestic violence reporting requirements.

  • Technical aspects of field specialty.

 

ABILITY TO:  

  • Coordinate assigned activities to resolve student issues or develop community programs.

  • Train staff on McKinney-Vento Homeless Law. 

  • Travel to student residences and interact with parents and/or other caregivers.

  • Assist with responsible duties for a specific program.

  • Understand and follow oral and written directions.

  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

  • Maintain records and prepare reports.

  • Operate a computer terminal.

  • Prioritize and schedule work.

  • Learn, apply and explain policies, procedures, rules and regulations, requirements and restrictions.

  • Determine appropriate action within clearly defined guidelines.

  • Work independently with little direction.

  • Meet schedules and timelines. 

  • Coordinate Transportation

 

JOB GOAL:  

  • To assess student and family educational needs and develop intervention strategies that utilize existing student support services and resources available in the schools and local community to ensure student success.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Provide case management functions for homeless students and families to ensure appropriate educational services.

  • Conduct research and prepare reports regarding student progress.

  • Contribute to staff development on subjects such as parent interviewing, cultural differences in families, barriers to attendance, and help identify other student service needs.

  • Serve on policy-making committees and boards if needed.

  • Provide information and referral services to appropriate educational and community resources.

  • Work collaboratively with area homeless shelters and other community agencies to identify and assist displaced youth.

  • Make visits to shelters as necessary to support program objectives.

  • Fulfill case management and coordination functions by serving as a liaison between the school and community-based agencies.

  • Collaborate with teachers, guidance counselors, FRYSC and other professionals in assessing student needs and designing strategies to help individual pupils.

  • Perform other related duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the immediate supervisor, and/or Superintendent of Schools.

 

RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Pupil Personnel 

CONTRACT: 235 Days 

SALARY: $196.80 - $312.05/daily; depending on qualifications and experience
