Full-time
Duration:

Start Date:

About Solen Software Group
Solen Software Group is a long-term owner and operator of mission-critical B2B software companies. We acquire proven, profitable software businesses and partner with founders and management teams to build enduring market leaders. Unlike traditional private equity firms, Solen invests with permanent capital — focused on long-term value creation rather than short-term financial engineering.

The Role
As a Finance Team Intern, you will work directly within Solen's finance function and take ownership of real, recurring tasks from day one. This is a hands-on, junior role designed for candidates at the very beginning of their finance or accounting journey — people who may not yet have extensive experience, but who bring attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and a genuine interest in how a business operates financially.
You will be based in our Lisbon office and contribute to the day-to-day processes that keep our finance operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable

  • Review, filter, and respond to supplier emails in a timely and professional manner
  • Verify that invoices are accurate and complete before approving them for payment
  • Submit invoices through the appropriate internal processes
  • Reconcile supplier payments against bank records

Accounts Receivable

  • Review, filter, and respond to customer emails
  • Prepare and issue customer invoices
  • Reconcile customer payments against bank records

Candidate Profile
This role is well suited to candidates who:

  • Are at the last year, or have recently completed, a degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, or a related field
  • Have a genuine interest in finance, accounting, and business operations
  • Are detail-oriented, organised, and take pride in accurate, careful work
  • Communicate clearly and professionally in English (Portuguese is a plus)
  • Are motivated, curious, and comfortable working independently in a small team

What You Will Gain

  • Hands-on experience with real accounting and finance tasks in a live business environment
  • A practical understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliation
  • Exposure to the financial operations of a private equity-backed software group
  • Direct mentorship from an experienced finance team
  • A strong foundation for a career in accounting, finance, or business operations

Why Join Solen

  • Work within a small, high-performance team where your contribution is visible and valued
  • Gain real responsibility from day one and contribute to meaningful work
  • Be part of a culture that values ownership, integrity, and continuous improvement
  • Learn how high‑quality software businesses are built and scaled over decades

Solen-isms (How We Operate)

· Ownership Mindset: We own the mission. We don't wait to be told. We lead, fix, and build as if it were ours. When problems arise, we run toward them, not away.

· Benchmark to Best: We seek out excellence. We measure ourselves against the best and adapt quickly, always looking for the edge that moves us forward.

· Openly Self-Critical: Leaders go first: they surface their misses early, ask for direct feedback, and turn “game film” into better decisions and better systems.

· Disagree & Commit: Leaders disagree openly and constructively, regardless of title or tenure, because truth is how we avoid bureaucracy and benchmark to best.

· Figureitoutiveness: Embracing challenges, fostering growth, and taking initiative, leaders thrive on hard work and high failure tolerance.

· Mutual Elevation: Committed to growth, elevating teams, developing future leaders, and removing barriers to mastery and joy.

· Learn-it-alls: Learn-it-alls, not know-it-alls, embracing failure as part of growth and progress.

· Pioneering: Pioneering driven by opportunity, using first principles thinking and unbound by tradition or rules.

· Will to Win: Leaders relentlessly pursue potential, reject mediocrity, and get what they tolerate.

· Dialectical: We learn through conversation. We ask, listen, question, and evolve — valuing disagreement as a tool for alignment and deeper understanding.

· Frugality: Achieving more with less, focusing on quality, long-term value, and company-wide responsibility.

· Candor: We communicate with integrity, transparency, and respect in all conversations.

· Kaizen: Kaizen is continuous improvement as a way of life. Leaders make hundreds of small upgrades that compound, turning lessons into standards and standards into durable systems.
