The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has an exciting opportunity for a Statutory Programs Specialist! This position works in Concealed Handgun Permit program. There is a lot of variety in terms of duties and many opportunities to interact with commissioned and civilian employees throughout the Sheriff’s Office while providing this valuable service to our community. ** While the full salary range for the Statutory Programs Specialist is $50,640-$75,960 annually, g enerally the hiring range is $50,640-$63,300 annually. Qualifications, education and experience as it relates to the position will be taken into consideration when determining hiring salary. General Duties: Performs a variety of administrative and clerical tasks related to the intake and processing of concealed handgun permit applications, sex offender registrations, and court-ordered fingerprinting of criminal o ffenders. Duties include direct contact with the public, including criminal offenders in a non-custodial setting, as well as other office members, public officials, and representatives of outside agencies. Also performs less technical clerical tasks, such as filing, notifying citizens of the status of their applications by telephone or mail, etc. Work locations (DCSO/HRSS) and days (Monday-Friday) may vary depending on department needs. Supervision Exercised: No supervision exercised. Supervision Received: Works under general supervision of the Records Manager. Examples of Duties and Responsibilities: - Utilizes local and state/federal computer/teletype systems to query, enter or cancel operational data and relay as authorized (New World, CCIC/NCIC). These computer systems are used daily for various duties. Required to have CCIC OSN’s for data entry purposes. Computer skills are highly technical. - Takes fingerprints and photographs of concealed handgun permit applicants, court-ordered criminal offenders (in a non-custodial environment), registered sex offenders, vendors, and new employees. - Computation of Sheriff’s fees and other financial data. - R eceives concealed handgun permit applications from members of the public, answers their questions, and checks applications for completeness. - Daily contact with general public both in person and by phone. - Is expected to conduct ongoing research and remain current on laws and regulations related to the functional areas of the position, and to effectively relate this information to office members and the public. - Assists with statistical reports related to workload indicators/productivity measures. - Performs other duties and jobs as required and assigned.
