Anticipated Work Year & Hours*: 260 Days (12-Month)

Reports to: Custodial and Maintenance Building Lead; Director of Buildings and Grounds
Key Responsibilities:
Classrooms:
Thoroughly dust-mop all classroom floors nightly; disinfect high-touch surfaces.
Empty trash cans daily and replace liners.
Wash all interior glass and fire door glass daily.
Arrange furniture neatly to maintain order and social distancing; disinfect furniture nightly.
Remove all graffiti from desks, seats, and surfaces nightly.
Wash blackboards/whiteboards and trays three times per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday); wash erasers nightly.
Ensure assigned classrooms and offices are ready for daily use; report major concerns to the building lead.
Enter school dude for building repairs and closeout when complete
Washrooms:
Disinfect toilets, sinks, door handles, partitions, dispensers, and all touch areas nightly.
Wash walls as needed weekly; ceramic walls washed twice monthly.
Stock washrooms with paper products and soap nightly.
Dust-mop, wet mop with disinfectant, and rinse mop floors nightly by 6:00 pm.
Wash all mirrors nightly.
Empty trash cans and replace liners daily.
Wash all interior glass and fire door glass in your area daily.
Hallways, Stairwells, and Common Areas:
Disinfect high-touch areas throughout the day and nightly.
Dust-mop corridors at the start of the shift and again at the end of the night; maintain a clean appearance throughout the evening.
Empty trash cans and replace liners daily.
Wash lockers in assigned areas carefully.
Clean hallway corners, baseboards, and remove wax buildup.
Dust handrails, stair stringers, ledges, windowsills, furniture, TV monitors, display case tops, and other dust-collecting surfaces nightly.
Wet mop stairwells at least twice per week; remove graffiti and spills from walls daily.
Wash all interior glass and fire door glass daily.
Gymnasiums and Locker Rooms:
Wash interior glass and fire door glass daily.
Empty trash cans and replace liners daily.
Disinfect locker rooms, showers, and physical education spaces nightly per CDC guidelines, including all flat surfaces, machinery, and hardware.
Offices:
Wash interior glass and fire door glass daily.
Empty trash cans and replace liners daily.
Preventative Maintenance:
Perform minor repairs
Maintain cleaning equipment.
Assist with event setups and take-downs as required.
Report major maintenance issues to the building lead immediately.
Seasonal and Special Duties:
Perform snow removal and ice management on walkways, entrances, and parking areas as assigned.
Assist with seasonal maintenance tasks, such as floor waxing, field or facility winterization, and general upkeep.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the administration.*
Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous custodial or facilities maintenance experience preferred.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety procedures.
Ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
Strong organizational, time management, and attention-to-detail skills.
Physical ability to lift, bend, and perform manual labor for extended periods.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Working Conditions:
Indoor and outdoor work in classrooms, offices, gymnasiums, locker rooms, hallways, stairwells, and common areas.
Exposure to cleaning chemicals, waste, and various facility equipment.
Frequent physical activity including lifting, bending, climbing stairs, and standing for extended periods.
May require on-call or emergency response work, including snow removal and urgent repairs.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Range:As set forth in the current agreement between the Board of Education of Proviso Township High Schools District 209, Cook County, Illinois, and Proviso Custodial and Maintenance Union SEIU Local 73, CTW, 2025�2030.

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Proviso Township High Schools District 209 Board's policy on personnel evaluation.
