Job Description

Join Us!

At Google Operations Center we help Google users and customers solve problems and achieve their goals—all while enjoying a culture focused on improving continuously and being better together. We work hard, we play hard, and we want you to join us!

As part of the Users & Products Analytics team, we ensure our organization has access to aligned, accurate, and actionable business metrics that drive global operations. We bridge the gap between complex data infrastructure and strategic decision-making. Our mission centers on four core pillars:

  • Single Source of Truth: Building robust, high-quality, and deeply trusted data pipelines

  • Informative Visualizations: Creating intuitive dashboards that simplify complex data.

  • Automated Insights: Scaling advanced analytics and AI-driven insights to enhance decision-making at all levels.

  • Scalable Infrastructure: Developing and maintaining a highly stable, next-generation reporting ecosystem.

As a Data Engineering Team Lead, you will sit at the intersection of traditional big data architecture and cutting-edge AI implementation. You will lead a high-performing team of Data Engineers and Analysts, collaborating directly with Business Analysts, Go-To-Market (GTM) teams, and product leaders.

This role offers the unique opportunity to design innovative data solutions and solve complex scalability challenges using large-scale production data infrastructure, while pioneering our team's LLM and Generative AI initiatives.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and code-review a team of Data Engineers and BI Analysts. Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and agile delivery utilizing Python, Advanced SQL, BigQuery and Java.

  • Oversee the end-to-end design, development, and optimization of scalable data warehouses and pipelines (ETL/ELT). Act as the hands-on authority for orchestrating data workflows via Airflow, Spark, dbt, and Kafka.

  • Own the integrity and scalability of our distributed data processing systems within Google Cloud Platform (GCP), leveraging various NoSQL databases to maintain high performance.

  • Architect the technical translation of high-level business requirements into scalable AI and data solutions, ensuring seamless alignment across cross-functional engineering teams.

  • Partner with Analytics Managers and business pillars to prioritize product initiatives, resolve technical bottlenecks, and deliver impactful enterprise dashboards via Looker or Tableau.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience designing, testing, optimizing, and troubleshooting enterprise-grade ETL/ELT solutions.

  • 3+ years of experience working with OLAP systems, advanced SQL, and data modeling.

  • Proven track record of managing technical teams, driving agile sprints, and managing multiple complex data projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or similar large-scale distributed data infrastructure.

  • Strong understanding of the AI toolkits similar to ADK, Anti Gravity, Vertex AI Agent Engine etc.

  • Strong experience designing data warehouses tailored specifically for business performance management.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.

Benefits

  • We support you with competitive wages and with comprehensive health care including medical, dental and vision coverage

  • We support your family with gender-neutral baby bonding leave, 26 week birth-parent maternity leave, and generous life, accident and disability insurance minimums

  • Employees who work onsite can enjoy free meals and snacks, and fun onsite experiences
