Job Summary
NY AMI is a five-year initiative with a budget of ~500M. "AMI" stands for Advanced Metering Infrastructure (smart meters) and is an essential foundation for NY grid modernization. AMI includes the replacement of existing electric meters and the upgrading of gas meters with smart devices, including systems designed to provide two-way customer communications. AMI provides real-time information to improve customer service, support power restoration efforts, improve power quality and enable customer conservation efforts.
This position will lead the NY AMI Project Management Office (PMO) which will include fiduciary responsibilities, coordination of cross functional teams (internal and external), report generation, schedule development and maintenance, and resource planning. This position reports to the Program Director, Smart Grids in the Process and Technology Organization. The primary geographic location is negotiable however travel to NY will be required on a regular basis.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for various fiduciary responsibilities for the NY AMI Project including, investment planning, budgets, forecasts, variances, accounting, cost-benefit development and measurement adherence and cost recovery. Understanding of regulatory impacts on project in matters related to compliance with regulatory directives. Evaluates and summarizes documents for regulatory, policy, strategy, and business financial implications, including but not limited to Company documents, regulatory filings, interrogatories, orders, and reports. Designs, implements, and tracks Program KPI’s with other AMI Leads and implements corrective actions as appropriate. Leverage change management to accelerate process standardization and technology utilization in order to improve organizational effectiveness.
Provides expertise, direction and immediacy of decision making. Holds project team members accountable for results. Coaches and guides team members. Resolves disputes. May have direct reports. Provides leadership on various aspects of the NY AMI Project. Management includes development of scope (schedule), project design execution and transition to day-to-day operations. Leads cross-functional project teams. Conducts regular program/project status meetings. Responsible for project presentations, reports and regulatory requests. Leads development of business processes, protocols, and tools. Manages NY AMI SharePoint/Teams site.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor degree required,
- 7 years' relevant experience, specifically with financials related to large-scale projects. 3 to 5 years of project/program management a plus.
- Experience leading teams.
- Knowledge of Information Technology design and architecture
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Project, SharePoint, TEAMS, Visio)
- Experience and understanding of establishing project accounting according to guidelines to ensure cost recovery through accurate reporting
- Experience with SAP for financial budgeting, forecasting and tracking, including invoicing, payment and accrual processes.
- Knowledge and experience navigating the Procurement Process.
- Experience working with IT from development of IT Project Definition Documents (PDD)s to requirements identification.
- Experience developing roadmaps to align future initiatives.
- Experience in resourcing and management of internal and external vendors.
