    Who will you be working with?

    The Lean Specialist will report directly to the Site Value Stream Coach. The Lean Specialist is responsible for supporting lean transformation, driving continuous improvement to boost efficiency, reduce waste, improve asset availability and enhance productivity, standard work, data collection and other kaizen related activities. Works closely with the Value Stream Coach and site personnel to develop lean capabilities across the site, serving as a key driver of continuous improvement initiatives.

    How will you make a difference?

    As a member of the _Lean_ department, you will be responsible for:

    - Serve as an agent of change, improving personal change management capabilities and ensuring rigor in the execution of kaizen activities.

    - Support the lean vision and continuous improvement strategy by advancing customer experience through improved cycle time, on-time delivery, and overall quality.

    - Support in lean methodology, principles, and tools.

    - Ensure compliance with standard processes and tools while supporting associates in developing and following their personal standard work.

    - Adhere to standards within the Wabtec Management System.

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field like Engineering or Operations Management.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Kaizen) operational excellence principles and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in developing standard work, visual management, and structured problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively to create customer-focused solutions.
  • Strong attendance record and above-average performance history.
  • Prior manufacturing or related experience with active participation in continuous improvement activities.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage projects from start to finish.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Ability to work effectively with associates at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to complete project assignments independently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

    What will your typical day look like?

  • As a Lean Specialist, your day will be dynamic and centered on the shop floor (Gemba). You won’t just be analyzing data from a desk; you will be where the action happens. A typical day includes:
  • Kick-off & Alignment: You’ll start the day participating in daily management meetings (Gemba) to identify operational bottlenecks and prioritize continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Driving the Lean Vision: Much of your day will be spent on the floor, collaborating with site personnel to implement Standard Work, improve visual management, and ensure rigor in our processes.
  • Kaizen Leadership: You will facilitate or support Kaizen events, leading cross-functional teams to eliminate waste, reduce cycle times, and boost productivity.
  • Coaching & Development: You’ll act as a mentor, helping associates at all levels develop their lean capabilities and fostering a culture of "continuous improvement every day."
  • Strategic Execution: You will work closely with the Value Stream Coach to track KPIs and ensure all initiatives align with the Wabtec Management System and our commitment to on-time delivery and quality.
  • Data-Driven Problem Solving: You will collect and analyze data to perform structured problem-solving, ensuring that every change we make is sustainable and adds real value to the customer.
