The Franco Library is seeking enthusiastic and organized Summer Library Workers to assist with preparing our resources for the upcoming academic semester. Under the direct supervision, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our collections are accessible and in order for students and faculty.
This is a temporary, part-time position ideal for individuals who enjoy a dynamic work environment and are comfortable with physical tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Organize library materials, including books, periodicals, and other resources, according to established library shelving systems (e.g., Library of Congress Classification, Dewey Decimal Classification).
- Move library materials and equipment as needed, which may involve lifting and transporting boxes of books or shifting shelving units.
- Shelve books and other library resources accurately and efficiently, ensuring proper placement and neatness on shelves.
- Assist with general tidying and maintenance of library shelves and common areas.
- Other duties as assigned by the Library Director to support library operations.
Qualifications:
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 30 pounds, bending, stretching, and standing for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a library environment.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Previous library experience is a plus, but not required.
Schedule:
This is a temporary position for the summer months, starting as soon as June 1, 2026, and ending August 7, 2026.
Hours will be 15-30 hours per week. Monday through Friday. Some flexibility may be available.
