Essential Functions:
- Manage classroom operations in compliance with Office of Child Care regulations, MSDE/Blueprint requirements, and company policies.
- Create a welcoming, safe, and engaging learning environment for children and families.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with Maryland Early Learning Standards (minimum 180 instructional days).
- Maintain curriculum fidelity and use evidence-based instructional practices; differentiate to meet individual needs.
- Conduct ongoing assessments and progress monitoring; maintain accurate student records and required documentation.
- Supervise children using positive guidance and effective classroom management strategies.
- Ensure classroom cleanliness, organization, safety, and updated displays/parent communication boards.
- Complete all required classroom paperwork (daily reports, attendance, incident reports, grant documentation).
- Provide direction and support to the Assistant Teacher to ensure smooth classroom operations.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with families and school leadership.
- Attend required meetings, trainings, and school events; participate in ongoing professional development and certification requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality and present a professional image at all times.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The job requires frequent bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, lifting and carrying; ability to lift 50 pounds.
Education/Experience:
This role requires a Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) PreK–3 (P-3) Professional Certificate and adherence to Local Education Agency (LEA) salary and instructional standards.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field OR Bachelor's degree in an unrelated field with experience working in ECE for the last 10+ years
- Experience teaching Pre-K or early elementary students
- Ability to meet LEA-aligned instructional and documentation standards
Preferred:
- Maryland MSDE P-3 Certification (PreK–3 Professional License)
- Experience in publicly funded Pre-K settings
- Knowledge of CLASS, curriculum fidelity tools, and kindergarten readiness assessments
Pay Scale:
Frederick County: $57,659 – $116,445
*Salary ranges align with LEA (county public school) salary schedule based on Degree level & Years of experience*
