Description: York Community High School is seeking a dynamic and passionate Social Worker to be a long term substitute for the fall semester of the 2026-27 school year.. This position will support students on a problem-solving team, including general education students and students receiving support through individualized education plans. York is seeking to hire an educator who maintains a student-centered, creative approach to providing and delivering student supports while building rapport with students,families, and staff members. We are looking for an exceptional candidate who will assist our school in becoming an exemplar as it relates to supporting student social-emotional growth for all students. This person will work collaboratively in professional learning communities within the Student Services division to achieve goals with a common purpose focused on student support.
Qualifications:
Design and implement a process for the provision of social work services for students enrolled in the building of assignment, including developmental assessments and studies, crisis intervention and de-escalation, and provide necessary services to students.
Assist with the development, management, and delivery of a comprehensive Tier 2 and Tier 3 social-emotional support program.
Support social-emotional goals for students with individualized education plans.
Facilitate Tier 2 and Tier 3 psychoeducational groups for students
Provide preventative and responsive services to students
Collect and analyze data to help guide program development and implementation
Provide professional development experiences for all school personnel in order to foster a deeper understanding of student needs.
Consistently participate in team meetings for identification, evaluation, and design of intervention programs.
Connect with parents and utilize community resources to bring the school, student, home and community together in support of student needs.
Provide parental education, consultation, and/or counseling as appropriate in relation to a student's needs.
Collaborate with teaching and related service staff to develop and sustain an educational climate conducive to the optimum development of all students.
Purpose: The purpose of a school social worker in Elmhurst CUSD 205 is to positively impact the achievement of all students by addressing the developmental needs of students through the delivery of a comprehensive school social work program that addresses the academic and social-emotional development of all students. Social workers collaboratively work with students, administrators, teachers, parents, and the community to promote student success and respond to identified student needs.
Long term sub rate of pay is $250/ day.
Tentative dates: August 11th - November 7th, 2026
IL Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement in Social Work is required and registered in DuPage County.
