ROLE PURPOSE:
Lab technician(s) ensures the plant scientific and medical laboratory is prepared for taking test samples, keeping lab records, maintaining equipment and provide data to support findings.

- EHSQ focus is 100% task oriented
- Responsible for area specific EHSQ procedures/policy adherence
- EHSQMS Element Support
- Responsible for reporting all incidents, defects, and hazards
- Involved in EHSQ specific checks and inspections for policy adherence

- Carrying out their work in a manner which does not present a risk to themselves, others, and the environment
- Reporting all incidents, defects, hazards, and inadequacies of procedures so that appropriate review and corrective action can be taken.
- Suggesting improvements and being active in the general improvement of all systems and methods of work to ensure EHSQ supports activities and services are carried out in a safe, environmentally responsible, reliable, and cost-effective manner.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Required to learn how to operate various lab instruments
- Understand and perform test methods used both in process and final product testing
- Ability to understand and make necessary changes from test analysis
- Understand Certificate of Analysis (C of A) and the requirements of each C of A specifications
- Ability to utilize SAP system
- Ability to navigate and enter date into excel spreadsheets
- Perform various calibration and standard test on lab instruments
- Prepare and collect product samples for outside testing
- Assist in the investigation of quality issues and finds
- Understanding and communication with members of management on various test and projects
- Know the hazards of chemical reagents used in test methods and general use in the lab
- Understand and adhere to safety and GMP policies and procedures
- Ability to progress through the lab matrix within the allotted time
- Ability to pass the written test for the lab matrix
- Ability to perform and assist in lock outs and writing permits
- Reviews and follows Non-GMO policies and procedures
FOOD, ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY DUTY OF CARE:
Food Safety:
- Carry out responsibilities/duties according to food safety, legal and quality requirements to ensure that our products are fit for human consumption
Environment:
- Comply with all environmental standards, procedures, and work instructions always
- Report any environmental violation or near misses to prevent any impact upon the local environment, its inhabitants and Tate & Lyle
Health & Safety
- Adhere to the safety policies, procedures, and site rules
- Fully participate in the safety program, including reporting any incidents or near misses and auditing
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Two (2) years of manufacturing experience preferred
