About the Team: ZF Axle Drives Marysville, LLC, located in Marysville, Michigan, is a state-of-the-art facility specializing in the manufacturing of axle drives for Stellantis. The plant is known for its clean, climate-controlled environment, ensuring a comfortable workspace. The Controls Engineering team consists of dedicated professionals, including both Controls Engineers and Controls Technicians, working across all shifts. This position focuses on production support with opportunities for project work. Collaboration with maintenance, production, and IT teams is a key aspect of the role, ensuring smooth operations and addressing any issues that arise.
What you can look forward to as a Controls Engineer:
- Lead development of machine specifications and the acquisition of assets necessary to deliver the desired business result.
- Support the development of business cases by providing estimated investment and manpower required.
- Utilize engineering techniques and lean concepts with the intent on improving process flows, reducing operational expenses, developing new processes, and improving productivity across the business unit.
- Serve as an internal consultant for issues related to maintenance controls in troubleshooting and problem-solving scenarios.
- Provide technical guidance and expertise (lead, coordinate and facilitate troubleshooting) in the modification of hardware, software, electrical, and power transmission control systems to improve safety, reliability and operational readiness of manufacturing equipment.
- Coordinate with Maintenance, Production, and IT to modify programming and controls systems involving PLCs and PCs.
- Develop solutions and ensure the completion of long-term elimination of controls deficiencies; develop alternatives for controls equipment replacement, upgrade or program revisions that improve equipment performance and overall equipment reliability.
- Analyze and challenge existing procedures in areas of responsibility throughout the facility, making recommendations and working with Operational Management to integrate solutions.
Your profile as a Controls Engineer:
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering and 2-4+ years of related controls experience.
- Knowledge and programming experience with AutoCAD, Siemens, Transline, Rockwell, vision systems and robots required.
- Knowledge and experience with dispensing systems, networks (ethernet, profibus, profinet), fastening operations, FDM/press operations, NVH, balancing (BTI), laser cutting/welding, etching, gear cutting, heat treat, gear machining, straightening, and gear testing.
- Experience with Assembly and Machining.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills. Must be proficient in MS Office.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
