Job Description

Toray Advanced Composites (TAC) is a leading supplier of advanced composite materials for the aerospace, sporting goods, motorsport, and industrial markets. You will find our thermoset composite products on nearly every satellite, space launch vehicle, unmanned aircraft, military and commercial aircraft in production today. TAC also provides composites materials to industrial and recreational applications including mountain bikes, medical prosthetics, and sports equipment.

Our thermoplastic prepregs, known in the industry as Cetex®, are found in a wide range of commercial and military aircraft, including large wing structures and interior applications like seats and galleys. Our Cetex products are available in unidirectional tape or fabric form in a variety of engineered thermoplastic resins including PEEK, PPS, PEI as well as a full line of performance thermoplastics including Nylon, PET, PC/ABS, HDPE, and PP.

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS

The Maintenance Technician II will support the production department by working with minimal supervision on installing, troubleshooting and repairing production machinery. The technician should be knowledgeable on collecting and preparing daily maintenance and repair logs. Duties also include supporting production teams by carrying out a range of product development and activities such as analyzing situations or interpreting data. Additionally the Maintenance Technician II should be able to follow work instructions and procedures which include use of personal protection equipment (where relevant) to safeguard self, other employee and the work environment.

MAJOR DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Support maintenance by implementing, installing, troubleshooting and repairing facility and production machinery
  • Collect and prepare daily maintenance and repair logs
  • Assist in performing preventative and predictive maintenance on equipment as part of the overall TPM process
  • Clearly understand Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and how they impact machinery
  • Perform basic electrical troubleshooting, including sub components
  • Partner with process engineering to support diagnosis, recommend improvements and take appropriate corrective actions on equipment to achieve optimum line efficiency and up time
  • Investigate cause of equipment issues and take measures to prevent recurrence of issues
  • Collaborate effectively with various departments and internal customers
  • Maintain and secure work tools and follow 3S/5S procedures
  • Perform the Lock-out/Tag-out process diligently
  • Follow safety procedures for PPE (personal protection equipment) and the company's policies
  • Dispose hazmat waste in proper area
  • Maintain a clean working environment
  • Able to work overtime and flex work hours occasionally to support a 24/7 production environment
  • Escalate equipment and production issues by notifying Lead/Supervisor/Manager
  • Organize parts and ensure maintenance spare parts inventory is adequate and maintained

EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years or more of experience working in a production department
  • Experience in composite manufacturing is a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with a variety of electric and hand tools such as basic mechanic tools, electric drills/grinders, calipers, tape measurers, electrical multimeters
  • Advanced skills required in one or more of the following areas: electrical, mechanical, hydraulic & pneumatic systems, plumbing & piping systems, or PLC programming
  • Basic welding and/or manual machining skills required
  • Knowledge of programing PLC's is required
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics required
  • Experience with high and low voltage
  • Knowledge of TPM software system, TPM methods & continuous improvement activities
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery, equipment and computers
  • Math and basic computer skills required
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PPT) Adobe Acrobat and CMMS's
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Must be able to communicate clearly (written and verbally) in English
  • Able to effectively work and communicate in a team environment
  • Maintain work areas in a neat, orderly and safe manner
  • Must be capable of lifting to 55 lbs
  • Excellent attendance: ability to work overtime, weekends and off/extended shifts as needed

Hourly rate: $29 - $47/hr
