Role Summary
The Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual and/or CNC machines to fabricate or modify parts according to exact specifications. You’ll work closely with supervisors, engineers, and quality teams to ensure that finished components meet dimensional and tolerance requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate manual and/or CNC lathes, mills, grinders, or other machining equipment

Interpret blueprints, schematics, work orders, and technical drawings

Measure and inspect parts using precision tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure dimensional accuracy

Perform machine adjustments, tool changes, and basic troubleshooting

Maintain accurate production records, part counts, and material usage

Follow safety and quality procedures, including use of PPE and adherence to company protocols

Maintain a clean and organized work area; perform routine machine maintenance

Collaborate with quality and engineering teams on non-conforming parts or improvement opportunities
Requirements

High school diploma or GED; technical training or trade school certification preferred

2–5 years of experience operating machining equipment (manual or CNC)

Proficiency in reading technical drawings and interpreting dimensional tolerances

Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining fundamentals

Experience with inspection tools and quality control processes

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods in industrial environments

Strong safety mindset and good communication skills
Nice to Have

Experience in heavy industrial, energy, or utility sector machining

CNC programming knowledge (G-code, conversational programming)

Familiarity with shop ERP or documentation systems

Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus in some facilities
