Quality Assurance Food Technologist

SUMMARY The Quality Assurance Food Technologist supports the Quality Assurance Manager and applies scientific principles in product development, continuing product quality assurance and food safety programs as it relates to Chedraui USA Private Label Products. Ensures that vendors comply with applicable US Food and Drug Administration, US Department of Agriculture, State and Local regulations and Chedraui USA requirements. Investigates and responds to product quality complaints or inquiries from stores and customers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned or required. Performs and completes product evaluations, first production runs, and other product testing as directed by the Quality Assurance Manager or Director and Product Managers. Samples and tests inbound private label products per product monitoring schedule to ensure compliance of products to established specifications and issues product hold or rejection notice if product is non-compliant. Will coordinate corrective action with Quality Assurance Manager, Product Managers and Vendors. Investigates customer and store product quality complaints, notifies vendors, and seeks resolution, as necessary. Maintains customer complaint log and reports quarterly findings. Supports Quality Assurance Manager and Director in advising and providing technical expertise to Product Managers, Category Managers, Store Operations, Marketing, Legal/Loss Prevention, Warehousing, and Customer Relations as it relates to Private Label product quality and food safety issues. Develops, updates, and maintains product specifications in shared folder as well as the TraceGains PLM tool for all Private Label products. Assists Quality Assurance Manager in reviewing finished product labeling for compliance to appropriate federal and state regulations including FDA’s New Nutrition Facts Labeling. Assists the Quality Assurance Manager in training and mentoring QA interns in lab techniques and procedures.
