The Superintendent Search:
Bexley City Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Superintendent. The Board of Education seeks an effective and experienced leader in education and administration.
Preferred Start Date: August 1, 2026
The Community:
Bexley is a suburb of about 13,000 residents located about four miles east of downtown Columbus, Ohio. The community and school district are landlocked in an area of about two square miles. Many residents are professionals and businesspeople employed in the Columbus area.
The community is known for its close-knit feel, walkable, tree-lined streets, and a vibrant main street with many small businesses. Bexley is noted for its high-performing public schools and is home to Capital University.

Our Schools
The Bexley City School District is a high-performing public school district with about 2,450 students. One of the top districts in the state, the Bexley City School District has a long history of outstanding achievement grades given by the state of Ohio. Bexley High School in 2023 was named the #1 high school in Ohio by U.S. News & World Report and ranked among the top 200 in the United States. The 2024 and 2025 rankings by U.S. News & World Report ranked Bexley High School #2 in Ohio.
Bexley's neighborhood schools form the center of a stable, close-knit community and are valued for their walkability throughout the district, thus limiting the district's transportation needs.
Our three elementary schools span the three main areas of the city � north, south, and central � while Bexley Middle School and High School are centrally located. Students benefit from the small class sizes that permit personal attention and foster academic excellence, with access to a rich variety of courses and extra-curricular programs.
- The district is in year three of a community-driven, three-year strategic plan, with current work being done to extend the plan for three years.
- The Board of Education has approved Phase I of district facilities upgrades and has started the process of placing an issue on the November 2026 ballot.
- Bexley City Schools offers a variety and diverse selection of programs for its students and is comparable in offerings to larger districts.
- The district is also supported by the Bexley Education Foundation, a dedicated partner providing additional funding through private dollars for educational initiatives, teacher and classroom grants, and districtwide impact grants.
Our schools are supported by and work with multiple organizations, including school building PTOs, the Diverse Learning PTO, Bexley Minority Parent Alliance (BMPA), Developmental Assets Resource Network (DARN), Athletic, Music and Theater booster groups, as well as other local organizations including Bexley Recreation & Parks, the Community Foundation, One Bexley, Bexley Public Library and the City of Bexley.
Our Staff
- Bexley has 350 employees, with 240 belonging to the teaching or support services professions.
76 percent of our teachers hold a master's degree or higher, and 47.5 percent have more than 15 years of experience.

- Enrollment is predicted to be stable.
Bexley has a strong graduation rate of 98% and a 2024 AP test pass rate of 81%.

Terms of Employment & Compensation:
The Board of Education will provide a competitive and negotiable compensation package. A multi-year contract with provisions for annual review and evaluation will be offered. The actual salary and benefits will be commensurate with the education, experience, and proven results of the candidate. Preferred Start Date: August 1, 2026
