QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a good working knowledge of horticulture and lawn care procedures.
- Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and work independently.
- Ability to operate and repair all types of grounds equipment.
- Knowledge in operation and repair of sprinkling systems.
- Knowledge of all sports played in a school system, ability to line fields.
- Class B CDL preferred.
- Experience in pruning/trimming, removal and tree replacement.
- Knowledgeable in playground maintenance and repairs.
- Previous experience in welding, engine repair, irrigation repair, fabrication, machinist skills, specialty building projects, carpentry and masonry.
- Must have the desire to work in a cooperative manner and team environment.
- Must have a good attendance record and be punctual.
- Must have positive work performance evaluations and no recent disciplinary actions.
- Must be physically qualified to perform assigned duties including lifting up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
- Must conduct a positive interview and receive a good reference from current and previous supervisors.
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency working with a culturally, ethnically, racially and socioeconomically diverse school community is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the maintenance and operation of outside grounds.
- Seeds, fertilizes, aerates, mows, and waters lawn.
- Maintains and repairs grounds equipment, district vans, trucks and custodial equipment.
- Layout and stripe fields.
- Removes snow as necessary including overtime if required.
- Design, fabricate and build specialty equipment and accessories.
- Perform building chief/custodian duties when necessary.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by Grounds Supervisor.
