Structural Fitter (Morgan City, Houma, Lafayette, Donaldsonville, & Surrounding Areas)

Position Overview:
As a Structural Fitter, you will play a critical role in the assembly and fitting of structural components for various manufacturing projects. Your primary responsibilities will include interpreting blueprints, accurately positioning and fitting metal parts, and ensuring components align precisely for welding and final assembly. You will collaborate closely with a team of skilled professionals to ensure timely completion of projects while adhering to safety guidelines and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine fitting requirements.
2. Measure, cut, and fit metal components such as beams, pipes, and plates according to project specifications.
3. Position and align structural parts accurately using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
4. Assemble and secure parts temporarily using clamps, bolts, and tack welds to prepare for welding or permanent fastening.
5. Inspect fitted components to ensure alignment and conformity to quality standards.
6. Collaborate with welders, fabricators, engineers, and quality control personnel to achieve project goals.
7. Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
8. Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition through regular inspection and maintenance.
9. Follow established manufacturing processes and procedures to ensure consistency and efficiency in fitting operations.
10. Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues to provide updates on project status and address any concerns or challenges.

Qualifications:

1. Proven at least 3-5 years of experience as a Structural (not ship) Fitter or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
2. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and fitting specifications.
3. Strong knowledge of fitting techniques and the use of hand and power tools.
4. Ability to measure and cut materials accurately and safely.
5. Familiarity with various types of metals and alloys used in structural fabrication.
6. Excellent attention to detail and precision in fitting operations.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve project goals.
8. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot fitting issues.
9. Flexibility to work in different environments and adapt to changing project requirements.
10. Certification in fitting techniques and/or relevant vocational training preferred.
