Overall purpose of the job:
To manage the day-to-day running of the team with the aim to provide an industry leading level of support to our clients.
To provide a high degree of expertise in the support of our Cisco based network clientele. Daily troubleshooting and configuration changes to our Cisco ISO, IOS-XE, NX and ISE solutions using both direct management and automation and orchestration platforms such as Ansible and DNA Center. To assist in the support of network security products such as SASE, NGFWs and NAC solutions.
Key responsibilities for this job:
- Ownership of complex faults and changes until resolution.
- Represent the team on both client and vendor engagements
- Plan and document customers, technologies and processes adopted into the team
- Provide support for escalated faults from the 2nd line engineer teams.
- Problem management.
- Firmware Management.
- To complete root cause analysis for major incidents
- To plan and complete network or security related projects.
- Upkeep and creation of detailed network documentation.
- Disaster Recovery/Failover Testing.
- To be the subject matter expert in one or more of the below products:
- Cisco ISE
- Cisco DNA Center
- Cisco Wireless
- To provide support and mentoring to peers within the NOC.
- On-call rota out of hours for high priority incidents.
Knowledge and experience required:
- Demonstrable experience supporting and/or deploying:
- Cisco ISE
- Cisco DNA Center
- Cisco Wireless networks
- Experience with NGFW such as Cisco Firepower FTD, Paulo Alto or Fortigate.
- Conventional networking understanding to at least CCNP level.
- Solid experience of supporting:
- Internal and external routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
- Switched networks (trunking, VLANs, STP, etc.)
- Network Redundancy protocols (HSRP, VRRP, BFD, etc.)
- Proficient in packet capture and analysis
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional phone manner.
- Flexible approach to work with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Ability to work in a team with little supervision using own initiative.
- Strong customer service focus.
- Eager to learn and develop technical skills.
Desirable knowledge and experience:
- CISCO CCNP Enterprise with one or more of the below concentrations:
- 300-715 SISE - Implementing and Configuring Cisco Identity Services Engine
- Securing Networks with Cisco Firewalls (300-710 SNCF)
- Experience with CISCO Umbrella
- Knowledge or experience with SD-WAN networks (preferably CISCO)
- Experience with HPE Aruba technologies
- Experience with other orchestration platforms
- Familiarity with Cloud products such as Azure / Amazon AWS
- Experience working within a Managed Service Provider Environment
- Exposure to network automation/programming such as Ansible/Python
