2025-26 Salary: $147,540 (Non-Negotiable)

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  This position will lead for equity to ensure that all scholars have equitable access to social-emotional instruction and supports.  This position will have primary responsibility to develop, maintain, and evaluate PK-12 SEL learning with an anti-racist lens.  This position will ensure that SEL is embedded in the development of MTSS systems supporting the development of the whole child. The SEL Facilitator will support the ongoing implementation of PBIS district-wide, and lead SEL curricular adoptions, ensuring that teachers have the supports and materials needed to deliver a guaranteed and viable curriculum. The SEL Facilitator will lead professional development and collaborate at the ESC and site level to provide coherent supports to schools.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Equity, Engagement, and Family and Student Success, this position is pivotal to the development and implementation of social-emotional learning.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive.   • With a relentless focus on equity, assists the Executive Director of Equity, Engagement, and Family and Student Success in achieving the goals of the school district's strategic plan and carrying out policies established by the Superintendent and Board of Directors.
  • Provides leadership in program development in SEL, to include design of district curriculum, curriculum adoptions, identification and alignment of instructional materials, design of professional development, long and short-range planning for ongoing, evidence-based improvement.
  • Research and develop SEL interventions for all Tiers of the MTSS framework, including Tier 1 school-wide research-based best practices and strategies
  • Collaborate with Teaching for Learning department to embed SEL in core academic content
  • Monitor and adapt supports for district-wide Culturally-Responsive PBIS implementation within the MTSS framework in collaboration with Behavior Specialists and Student Support Coordinators at the school level supporting Executive Director in engaging Behavior Specialists and Student Support Coordinators in coaching school site teams in MTSS and PBIS implementation
  • Collaborate with district departments to develop and implement staff professional development that builds staff capacity in SEL, Equity and Anti-racist, Anti-Bias pedagogy for SEL for teachers, coaches, and building administrators
  • Spends time at schools in direct and personal consultation with principals to then coordinate with behavior specialists, student support coordinators, and teachers to provide the full range needs in assigned areas of responsibility.  Facilitates the development of building administrator and teacher leadership capacity in the area of SEL and Equity
  • Designs and facilitates process of conducting Tiered Fidelity Inventory for PBIS implementation across all school sites district-wide
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates goals and objectives as they pertain to areas of responsibility.
  • Establishes a climate in the areas of responsibility conducive to appropriate conduct, performance, attitude, job satisfaction, and service orientation.
  • Leads curricular adoptions that are grounded in the district's vision for excellence and equity
  • Manages procedures to assure compliance with policy and procedures related to curriculum implementation.
  • Coordinates special projects as necessary.
  • Assures accurate and timely dissemination of information.
  • Keeps informed of trends in SEL and Equity, as well as other pertinent areas, such as federal, state and local laws, and district regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree.
Three (3) years successful teaching experience at the Secondary level and/or other job related occupations.
Washington State Teaching or Counseling License.
 
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work scheduled hours on a consistent basis
A strong background working with a diverse population.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in related field.
Successful experience in teaching and/or leading at the elementary and secondary levels
Successful experience in an ethnically diverse public school district.
 
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Criminal background clearance
Valid Washington State Driver's License
 
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Research, best practices and technical aspects of SEL, PBIS, and MTSS
School board policies and procedures
Organizational theory and its application in the area of curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation with an emphasis in science instruction.
Principles, practices, trends, goals, and objectives of public education.
Effective principles and practices of classroom instruction, teaching methods, and techniques.
Research methods and report writing techniques.
Record-keeping techniques.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in indoor conditions and regularly works near video display. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
 
WORK SCHEDULE 
This position typically works, Monday through Friday, 260 days per year
