Job Description
Summary
The Energy Procurement Planner, Scheduler and Analyst will identify, analyze, and implement efficiency improvements across fuel procurement and market offer strategies for the Boston and Cambridge systems. This position will also provide full operational redundancy for fuel management and market offer functions in support of the Manager of Energy Procurement. This is a full-time exempt position located in Boston, MA.
The compensation range for this position is $120,000-125,000 annually, plus a 15% bonus target.
Responsibilities
Develop forecasting tools and market‑modeling programs to identify long‑ and short‑term trends and inform market offer strategies.
Assess, pilot, and integrate AI‑driven tools to enhance plant and system dispatch operations.
Engage with industry associations to gather market intelligence and maintain awareness of emerging trends.
Coordinate with plant operations managers to ensure dispatch strategies are practical, safe, and supportive of system reliability.
Provide operational coverage for the Manager of Energy Procurement as needed, including commercial operations desk responsibilities during nights, weekends, and holidays.
Assist as needed in development, implementation and analysis of DPU regulatory compliance programs.
Audit and report on district operational efficiencies monthly.
Monitor, audit and report on water and sewer commodity usage and trending weekly.
Assess the Preventive Maintenance/Corrective Maintenance program and implement efficiency measures to improve system dispatch and efficiency.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field..
Minimum of 5 years of experience in business operations, performance analysis, or related functional areas.
Prior experience in U.S. energy or industrial markets.
Preferred Qualifications
MBA or advanced degree in finance, statistics or engineering discipline.
Other Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to interpret and develop plant and system operational models to support optimization recommendations.
Strong analytical skills for evaluating energy procurement strategies.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
Solid understanding of financial principles, including ROI calculations and the use of advanced financial modeling in Microsoft Excel.
Experience developing technical and business requirements for operational or analytical systems.
Physical Requirements
Must submit to a company provided pre-employment physical exam and drug screening.
This position will require travel to various Vicinity plant sites occasionally as needed.
Standing, sitting, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, walking on uneven surfaces, and grating,
Exposed to temperature extremes, high noise level areas, high pressure steam lines, rotating equipment, and dusty/dirty environment.
Required to wear PPE such as hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection.
