We are looking for a talented Grind Technician who will be responsible for working as part of the manufacturing team to achieve company safety, quality, and productivity goals while working in the cutting tool division of the business. This position will involve setup and operation of the CNC grinders and manual surface grinders. Learning how to program the CNC grinders with CAM software is available at higher levels as this position grows.
We are looking for a talented Grind Technician who will be responsible for working as part of the manufacturing team to achieve company safety, quality, and productivity goals while working in the cutting tool division of the business. Main Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate machines in department.
- Knowledge of shop mathematics, able to read and follow blueprints.
- General knowledge of wheel grades, type of grind wheels, feeds & speeds.
- Maintains part specifications by observing grinding operations; taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, making machine adjustments, replacing worn tools, and adhering to quality assurance procedures.
- Count finished parts to assure orders are complete. Use proper part identification.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs.
- Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, continuing needs. Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
- Documents actions by completing production and quality job logs.
- Able to follow instructions, listen and communicate clearly.
- Work with minimum supervision upon completion of training.
- Adapt to change as required – willing to cross-train in other departments.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications and watching YouTube videos when available.
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Ensure work is performed in a safe manner using all available safety equipment.
- Willingness to learn and grow through on-the-job training.
- Proactive attitude when completing tasks to move onto the next task helping the team meet daily and monthly goals.

- Adherence to LINK quality process and procedures and identify continuous improvement opportunities implementing through our quality system.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2-years of relevant technical field experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Good communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate within a team environment.
- Familiar with inspection equipment; micrometers, calipers, height gauge, dial indicators, shadow graph.
- Possess a high degree of professionalism, performs with a sense of urgency and attention to detail.
- Organized and able to prioritize daily tasks.
- Basic computer skills.
- Working knowledge of mechanical components.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk.
- Ability to speak verbally and read in English.
- Ability to see with corrective lenses.
- Ability to hear.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time (more than 2 hours).
- Ability to use a computer.
- Able to travel up to 10% domestically.
