Job Description

What you will be responsible for

Controllership

  • Reporting into Southeast Asia (SEA) Head of Finance in Singapore; dotted line to Regional APAC Controller

  • Responsible for all aspects of legal entity and BU Controllership for the Philippine entity to ensure accuracy of financial results and that all internal controls are appropriately designed and executed.

  • Coordinate with Global Close and Consolidation team on monthly close cycle process for accuracy and efficiency. Ensure financial controls are operating effectively and issues reported/ resolved and appropriately escalated. Key interface and close collaboration with LFO’s and FP&A organization to ensure alignment and accuracy of Monthly, Quarterly/ Annual results, with correct treatment of key events (Impairment, deferrals etc) & alignment to Business Unit initiatives

  • Responsible to ensure Group/Head Office’s information/attestation requests required for the entity are met

  • Act as in-country Finance and accounting SME, providing support to Business unit strategy and plans etc.

  • Support the SEA Finance controller in other SEA entities as and when required

Governance

  • Represent in relevant local, regional and global governance committees, project steering committees, and BU Risk committees etc. In accordance with Legal Entity Governance Standards, to act as Finance representative for all statutory entities in the periodic Board meetings

Tax

  • Responsible for ensuring local tax compliance (including direct and indirect taxes, Transfer Pricing etc)

  • Lead co-ordination with appointed tax agent to stay updated on tax developments and ensure compliance

  • Lead co-ordination with Corporate Tax team on Transfer Pricing, Group Tax matters and all matters related to BOI Tax incentives and Tax related initiatives and projects.

Audit and Risk and Controls

  • Responsible for Internal Audit results and remediation for the Philippine entity.

  • Actively manage external auditor to finalize statutory reporting for the entity including issues resolution.

  • Responsible for ensuring proper controls are designed and put in place for Finance processes

  • Work closely with Business Controls teams to ensure compliance with internal control frameworks and requirements.

  • Provide Control environment attestations (including SOX if required) / legal entity risk assessment , representation letters etc), where required

People Management

  • Manage one headcount based out of Philippines and partner with a wide range of stakeholders including Businesses, the local management team, Lead Financial Officers (LFOs), outsourced functions team (Global Accounting Operations, Billing, Regulatory Reporting, Procurement Services) and Finance /functional leadership team.  

  • Talent management, business continuity, compensation planning, succession planning, goal setting and tracking.

  • Responsible for managing the corporation’s funds, receiving and disbursing money, maintaining financial control, and serving as a principal signatory to financial statements. The role includes certifying capital-related documents such as certificates of increase or decrease of capital stock, certifying financial statements when assets or liabilities are below PhP 600,000, signing the corporation’s tax returns, and ensuring compliance with relevant treasury and financial regulations.

  • Ensure compliance with the RCC provisions, including but not limited to - requiring unrestricted retained earnings for certain corporate acts, ensuring that stocks are not issued below par value and that property given as consideration has been properly valued and approved, etc

Projects/Ad Hoc

  • Leading and execution of transformation initiatives in the country, including but not limited to, proper implementation of systems which impact the external & internal financial reporting. Execute on initiatives that impact accounting, reporting or tax including capital management, legal entity rationalization etc.

  • Any other ad-hoc tasks as required by the APAC controller from time-to-time.

  • Qualified Accountant with approximately 10-15 years of relevant experience

  • Strong Leadership capability and stakeholders’ management skills

  • Ability to understand and ensure compliance with local reporting requirements

  • Strong local tax knowledge and experience (direct and indirect tax) will be an advantage

  • Fast learner, proactive in nature and has excellent attention for details

  • Good knowledge of Accounting System (e.g. Oracle, SUN) will be an advantage

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced banking environment managing multiple priorities
