Job Description

We’re Hiring: Machinist – Workshop Operations

We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic individual to take up the challenge and be a member of the STG team. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Operate lathe, milling, drilling machines and other metalworking tools to fabricate or repair mechanical parts.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, technical instructions, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
  • Measure and mark dimensions and reference points accurately using precision measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and dial gauges.
  • Maintain accurate records of machine jobs, materials used, and time taken.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with STG safety standards and company policies. 

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Passed G.C.E A/L examination.
  • Successfully completed a full-time course at CGTI in Machinist or an equivalent qualification (NVQ level 4).
  • Expertise in handling lathe, milling, drilling, and machining operations.
  • Minimum of two years experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Good communication in English and Sinhala.
