As Claims Manager, you will lead a team of claim professionals responsible for handling reinsurance claims for North America, while providing technical advice and direction
You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of claim handling across the team and delivering market leading services to internal customers (senior management, underwriters, actuaries, finance etc.) and external clients (brokers and cedents)
You will operate in a highly collaborative team environment to achieve shared corporate strategies and objectives
You will collaborate with the Head of Claims for Americas and other Claims colleagues around the world to implement global claim strategies and best practices
What you’ll be doing What will your essential responsibilities include
Supervise, direct, coach, develop a team of P&C reinsurance claims professionals, including assessing performance and ensuring development plans are in place and actioned
Oversee day-to-day activities of the team in accordance with AXA XL reinsurance claims handling guidelines, service standards, and in compliance with local regulations
Review and approve referrals on P&C claims within specified authority levels
Coordinate management of disputed claims and dispute resolution strategy with the Head of Claims for the Americas and AXA XL Re Legal
Managing pending of assumed reinsurance treaty and Facultative claims on Excess of Loss and Proportional contracts arising under a broad range of Casualty lines of business
Understanding the reinsurance contracts and reviewing incoming and existing claims to verify coverage, evaluate exposure, post reserves, consider additional case reserves, and authorize claim payments within our industry leading service standards
Utilize data and analytics to identify and evaluate casualty claims trends, providing insights to inform underwriting and reserving strategies
Develop and maintain a regular and open channel of communication with underwriters and actuaries to keep them advised of developments on individual claims and accounts and provide insights on exposure change and emerging trends that could affect the portfolio and reserving
Responding to the business needs of regional stakeholders - Underwriters, Actuaries and Senior management claims management to ensure exceptional claim support and customer service
Build and maintain key client relationships internally and externally
Perform reinsurance claim reviews on assigned portfolio, including assessment of cedent’s claim handling and reserving
Review claim files and conduct meetings with clients during the claim reviews and prepare claim review narrative reports
Oversee claim reviews and timely preparation of claim review reports by team members
Seek ways to drive continuous improvement. You will report to the Head of Claims for the Americas, Reinsurance
What you will BRING We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills: Advanced experience in insurance or reinsurance claims
Technical proficiency and diversity of technical knowledge across P&C lines of business and experience with managing large claims
Proficiency in casualty claims is required
Comprehension of claims best practices and experience with case analysis, setting reserves and large loss reporting
Proven record managing people, including professional development of direct reports, their goal attainment and conducting performance reviews
Confidence in client facing role with cedents and brokers as auditor and company representative
Verbal and written communication skills as well as proficiency with claim data systems
Relevant industry designations (ARe, CPCU, RPLU, AIC, etc.) and/or JD a plus
Flexibility to travel, as needed

The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD $125,400 - $219,300
Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience and location
