
Pharmacy Manager
Job Description
Essential Job Function
- Manages pharmacy programs by consistently assessing pharmacy services needs and workload issues and measuring department performance.
- Identifies and develops pharmacy department goals and objectives, utilizing organizational goals and trend data along with customer and staff input.
- Represents the pharmacy department on interdepartmental collaborative teams and committees to plan for and implement performance improvement activities that support regulatory agency expectations.
- Helps foster and develop collaborative activities across health system pharmacies that plan and implement regulatory compliance activities.
- Performs monthly analysis of cost variances, identifies and communicates causes, and implements action plans to resolve in a timely, accurate manner.
- Works collaboratively with customers, committees, and senior leadership to manage systemwide expenses (i.e., salary, pharmaceutical, medical supply).
- Anticipates and adjusts staffing to meet various levels of patient care needs.
- Coaches pharmacists, technicians, and support staff in the performance of pharmacy services in assigned pharmacy areas.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Education
- Required: Doctor of Pharmacy or BS Pharm.
- Preferred: MHA, MS Pharmacy or Pharmacy Administration, MBA, or other advanced degree in pharmacy or healthcare leadership.
Experience
- Required: 7 years’ total pharmacist experience with 3 years in a pharmacy leadership role.
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Current active license to practice pharmacy in North Carolina, or eligible to obtain North Carolina pharmacy license within two (2) months of date of hire.
