Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Technical Director to join our team in Riyadh! In this role you will lead the delivery of all technical aspects of a PMC commission for a major amphitheater development supported by associated infrastructure. This role requires an experienced professional with a strong background in the design and construction of complex, multi-disciplinary projects, including public venues and long-span structures. The ideal candidate is a qualified Professional Engineer, highly analytical and solution-oriented, with the capability to proactively manage and resolve technical challenges across all project phases.
What You'll Be Doing:
1. Technical Leadership & Governance
Serve as the senior technical authority.
Provide strategic direction and oversight on design and engineering matters across all disciplines.
Lead the technical review and approval of design deliverables from concept through to IFC.
Ensure coordination and integration across:
Architectural and structural systems (including long-span roof structures)
MEP and building systems
Acoustics and AV infrastructure
Stage, rigging, and performance systems
External infrastructure and utilities
2. Design & Engineering Management
Oversee and manage design consultants to ensure high-quality, coordinated outputs.
Validate design solutions for structural integrity, buildability, and performance—particularly for complex and long-span elements.
Ensure adherence to international standards, local authority regulations, and client requirements.
Identify, assess, and resolve technical risks and interface challenges early.
3. Construction Phase Technical Oversight
Provide ongoing technical leadership during procurement and construction.
Review and approve contractor submittals, shop drawings, and engineering proposals.
Lead resolution of complex technical issues, ensuring timely and practical solutions.
Safeguard design intent, quality, and safety throughout execution.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Structural, or related Engineering discipline
Mandatory: Professional Engineer (PE, CEng, or equivalent)
20+ years’ experience in engineering design, design management, or PMC roles
Demonstrated experience in major multi-disciplinary projects, including:
Public venues (preferred)
Amphitheaters, or cultural facilities
Complex buildings and large-scale infrastructure
Proven expertise in long-span structural systems and complex engineering challenges
Experience managing technical issues through both design and construction phases
Regional (Middle East) project experience.
