Job Summary

The Machine Operator I is responsible for operating production equipment and manufacturing stainless steel sinks according to quality, safety, and production standards. This position utilizes blueprints, bills of materials (BOMs), measuring devices, and production equipment to produce finished products that meet customer specifications. The Machine Operator I performs equipment setup, operation, inspection, packaging, and production recording while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate manufacturing equipment and machinery to produce stainless steel sinks in accordance with production requirements.
  • Interpret blueprints, bills of materials (BOMs), work instructions, and specifications to ensure product quality and accuracy.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate production equipment, including sanding, grinding, buffing, and related machinery.
  • Perform routine inspections of products to identify defects, scratches, dimensional issues, or other quality concerns.
  • Use measuring tools and gauges to verify product specifications and quality standards.
  • Package finished products according to established procedures and customer requirements.
  • Record production information accurately using handheld scanners, computer systems, or other tracking methods.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company policies and safety requirements.
  • Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and operating instructions.
  • Assist with troubleshooting minor equipment issues and report equipment malfunctions to supervision.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in training as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing, machine operation, production, or industrial experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, and BOMs.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, quality standards, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to operate production equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Ability to accurately document production information and follow standard operating procedures.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly stand and walk for extended periods during scheduled shifts.
  • Frequently use hands and arms to handle, grasp, lift, push, pull, and manipulate materials and equipment.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, reach, twist, kneel, and crouch.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions involving hands, wrists, and arms.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery, vibration, noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Requires visual acuity to inspect products and identify defects.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
