
Assistant, Engineering
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Hull Structure Engineer capable of reviewing and approving structural designs for ships and offshore units in accordance with ABS classification rules, statutory requirements, and recognized industry standards. The role requires strong technical judgement in evaluating structural adequacy, compliance, and design integrity for new construction, conversions, and existing vessels/offshore assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct structural design review and approvals for ship and offshore structural designs in accordance with applicable Classification Rules, statutory requirements, and industry standards.
- Review and assess structural arrangements, scantlings, and modifications for new construction projects, conversions, and in-service vessels
- Provide technical guidance and solutions to shipyards, designers, owners, and internal stakeholders
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure consistent and efficient service delivery
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline
- At least 15 years of relevant industry experience
- Demonstrated technical expertise in hull structural engineering for marine and offshore applications
- In-depth knowledge of applicable classification rules, statutory regulations, and relevant industry codes and practices
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with internal and external stakeholders
