MPS Group, Inc., is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our team at our Headquarters located in Farmington Hills, MI. This individual will support the organization’s job cost accounting practices and financial reporting by partnering with operations and the finance team to manage job lifecycles, budgets, forecasting, and financial analysis.
 
Responsibilities and Job Duties:
  • Participates with Operations in managing the full lifecycle of a job, including RFQs, job creation, billing, purchasing, and customer and supplier payments.
  • Coordinates the establishment of annual job budgets and periodic forecast updates for assigned divisions.
  • Performs month‑end close duties and prepares required financial reporting in accordance with the departmental close calendar.
  • Provides and directs procedures necessary to maintain proper accounting records, internal controls, and financial services for the division.
  • Works closely with operations personnel to identify issues impacting jobs and determines financial impact, including but not limited to:
    • Securing customer purchase orders in a timely manner.
    • Coordinating timely invoicing and assisting with collections when necessary.
    • Monitoring supplier invoicing to support accurate cost accruals for the applicable period.
    • Ensuring proper revenue recognition in accordance with ERP system calculations.
  • Provides recommendations for best practices and process improvements.
  • Participates in divisional and departmental meetings.
  • Provides accounting systems training and updates to operations personnel.
  • Coordinates analysis, reporting, and other assigned duties with the finance team.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the leadership team and/or general management.
  • Adheres to Quality Systems requirements and participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent; or a minimum of seven years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles; accounting experience is essential.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts, including exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to tasks such as frequency distribution, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
