Job Description
The Director of Construction will lead the end-to-end delivery of fiber network construction programs across multiple markets. This role provides management oversight of all construction operations, ensuring project execution aligns with business goals, timelines, and safety standards. The Director will manage multiple Project Managers, standardize processes across markets, and drive performance, quality, and innovation in the field.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a high-performing field operations team, including Project Managers and regional crews.
- Oversee all fiber construction projects, both underground and aerial, ensuring safety, quality, and timely delivery.
- Set department KPIs, track performance metrics, and optimize operational efficiency across active markets.
- Align construction strategy with business objectives, including market expansion plans and client requirements.
- Develop scalable frameworks for project execution, including build methodologies, resource planning, and risk mitigation.
- Partner with Engineering, Permitting, and Procurement to streamline cross-functional workflows.
- Drive consistency in build standards, safety protocols, material usage, and documentation across all teams.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs, shorten build cycles, and enhance field productivity.
- Own field operations budget forecasting, allocation, and tracking across multiple regions.
- Manage subcontractor contracts, labor planning, equipment procurement, and material forecasting.
- Champion job site safety and regulatory compliance across all projects.
- Oversee QA/QC frameworks and field audits; ensure redlines, as-builts, and LLDs are accurate and complete.
- Ensure all projects meet federal, state, and local permitting requirements.
- Serve as the executive point of contact for municipalities, utilities, and key project stakeholders.
- Communicate regularly with internal leadership, providing reports on timelines, risks, budgets, and escalations.
- Represent Graycliff at industry events and strategic partner meetings.
- Lead the bidding effort on new opportunities.

This is a remote position with frequent visits to market offices. Successful candidate must be located in North Carolina or South Carolina.
