The Technical Account Manager - Food Ingredients will manage and provide specialized technical support to clients and the commercial team, acting as a technical liaison with suppliers, with the purpose of developing applications, driving projects, ensuring the proper implementation of raw materials, and contributing to the commercial growth and technical positioning of the company in the region.

 

What you will do:

  • Provide specialized technical advice to clients and the commercial team through visits, training sessions, demonstrations, formulations, and application testing, in order to ensure the proper selection and use of raw materials, generating business opportunities and strengthening the commercial relationship.
  • Act as a technical liaison between suppliers and the commercial team, managing technical information, project opportunities, training, and product development, in order to ensure proper communication and execution of technical-commercial strategies.
  • Coordinate the request of samples from suppliers and follow up on the import process together with the logistics area, in order to guarantee the availability of materials for testing, formulations, and commercial projects.
  • Provide technical training to clients and the commercial team on applications, formulations, benefits, and product differentiators, in order to strengthen technical knowledge and support sales management.
  • Follow up on the development of client projects that use raw materials from the portfolio, through testing, formulations, technical visits, and advisory, in order to achieve the commercial approval of products.
  • Manage and update the project pipeline with strategic suppliers, through reports, meetings, and opportunity follow-ups, in order to ensure business growth and the achievement of commercial objectives.
  • Support the coordination of technical-commercial activities in the region, including client visits, technical presentations, training sessions, and after-sales support, in order to strengthen relationships with clients and suppliers.
  • Technically validate the documentation required for opening codes for new products, reviewing technical data sheets, safety data sheets, specifications, and regulatory documents, in order to ensure compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop innovative products for different business units through formulation, testing, and evaluation of raw materials, in order to generate new business opportunities and market differentiation.
  • Formulate, analyze, and evaluate supplier products in the laboratory through physicochemical tests and applications, in order to validate their performance and promote their commercialization.
  • Develop prototypes and sales strategies for UPI inventories by creating applications and technical proposals, in order to drive inventory turnover and sales generation.
  • Comply with quality management system procedures (ISO 9001)
  • Record and maintain the required documentary evidence.

 

What you´ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Food Engineering,or similar
  • More than 3 years of experience with food ingredients (chemicals) in technical roles, product development, laboratory, applications, or technical-commercial support is mandatory for the role
  • Availability for extensive travel
  • Driver’s license
  • Intermediate to advanced English skills
    Microsoft Office
  • Interpretation of technical data sheets (TDS), material safety data sheets (MSDS/) and certificates of analysis (COA).
  • Sample import processes.
  • Basic technical regulation of raw materials.
  • CRM
  • Effective communication, customer orientation and problem-solving skills.
  • Training and presentation skills.

  • Hybrid opportunity for candidates based close to Costa Rica´s Univar Solutions Office.
  • Office location: La Asunción de Belén, Heredia, Costa Rica.
