Job Description

This is an exceptional opportunity for a professional with deep experience building financial technology software supporting private funds and alternative investments. In close collaboration with Sales, Product, Operations and Services teams, you will strategically define and implement the high-level roadmap for Clearwater’s Private Funds product line.

The successful candidate will be responsible for articulating the overall vision for the asset class, defining and documenting requirements, creating JIRA stories, and working closely with development teams to implement solutions. You will own the full product lifecycle—from market problem definition to user personas, workflow documentation, and business requirements for key functional groups within the private funds domain.

Responsibilities:

Market Management & Strategy

  • Understand the competitive landscape across private funds, including PE, hedge funds, credit, and real assets

  • Work with internal and external influencers to develop scalable, repeatable solutions for the private funds market

  • Partner with Sales teams to identify and prioritize high-value market opportunities

  • Regularly stay abreast of industry changes (e.g., LP/GP reporting standards, ILPA guidelines, regulatory shifts) and represent Clearwater as a subject matter expert

Product Development & Requirements

  • Collaborate with Solutions and Product teams to understand client workflows, current pain points, and how Clearwater’s platform can enhance their operations

  • Leverage private funds expertise to design products and features within the Clearwater system, including NAV reporting, capital account management, waterfall calculations, and fund-level analytics

  • Develop detailed business requirements and manage JIRA stories throughout the development lifecycle

  • Partner with development teams on feature design and ensure engineers understand the business value behind each deliverable

  • Define product capabilities necessary to capture high-priority private funds opportunities

  • Work with product owners to turn capabilities into development-ready products that can be delivered to clients

Stakeholder Communication & Roadmap

  • Communicate the private funds product roadmap to both internal and external stakeholders on a regular cadence

  • Speak with internal stakeholders about use cases, client needs, and the future direction of the private funds offering

  • Work with Sales, Operations, and Client Services to prioritize development projects and incorporate them into the Clearwater roadmap, balancing new market growth with profitability and client experience

  • Assist in defining the private funds offering and work with Marketing to update collateral and positioning materials

Client Success & Enablement

  • Put client success at the center of every product decision, ensuring new features solve real operational challenges faced by GPs, fund administrators, and LPs

  • Measure the success of new feature releases through adoption metrics and client feedback loops

  • Train internal users and clients on new private funds product functionality

  • Develop a deep understanding of Clearwater’s platform and build recognized expertise in private fund structures and operations

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in solutions or product leadership roles in financial services or financial technology, with a clear focus on private funds and alternative investments (PE, hedge funds, private credit, real assets)

  • Proven track record of successfully building and delivering product solutions for complex fund structures, including capital call management, waterfall distributions, fee calculations, and accounting

  • Deep knowledge of industry challenges such as regional regulations (e.g., ILPA, NAIC, BMA, Solvency), LP/GP dynamics, and fund administrator workflows

  • Demonstrated success putting client success at the heart of product decisions, with examples of translating institutional investor and fund manager needs into product requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex fund mechanics to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Strong ability to synthesize and communicate results of data analysis

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with experience managing cross-functional stakeholder relationships across Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Client Services
