Shift: Day Shift – Variable Hours | Full-Time – 40 Hours

As the Lead Certified Surgical Technologist supporting the Gynecology, Plastics, and ENT service lines, you'll combine your clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities to help ensure exceptional patient care, efficient surgical operations, and a collaborative team environment. Working alongside surgeons, nursing leadership, Materials Management, and fellow surgical staff, you'll play an integral role in maintaining high-quality standards while supporting innovation and continuous improvement throughout the operating room.
Key Responsibilities
Perform all Certified Surgical Technologist responsibilities in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, and scope of practice.
Serve as the clinical lead for assigned surgical service lines, providing day-to-day guidance and operational support.
Review daily and upcoming surgical schedules to ensure necessary supplies, equipment, and instrumentation are available and ready for procedures.
Review, maintain, edit, and verify the accuracy of surgeon preference cards while coordinating annual preference card reviews with providers.
Partner with Materials Management to maintain appropriate inventory levels, coordinate equipment repairs and replacements, and facilitate new product and equipment requests.
Coordinate and oversee product evaluations, equipment trials, and implementation of new technologies within assigned service lines.
Serve as a liaison between surgeons, surgical staff, vendors, leadership, and other key stakeholders to promote effective communication and collaboration.
Assist with onboarding new providers and team members to ensure a smooth transition into departmental workflows and expectations.
Coordinate vendor-led education and in-service training for new products, equipment, and technologies.
Champion initiatives that improve team morale, operational efficiency, quality, and cost stewardship.
Assist with creating staff schedules and assigning work responsibilities as needed.
Train, mentor, and support team members while coordinating required competencies and ongoing education.
Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for staff regarding departmental processes, expectations, and best practices.
Participate in interviewing and onboarding prospective team members.
Support departmental quality improvement and regulatory compliance initiatives.

Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of one (1) of the following:
Certified Operating Room Technician (OR Tech), or
Certified Operating Room First Assistant (OR Tech First Assist)
Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience within at least one of the following surgical specialty areas:
Vascular
Thoracic
Urology
ENT
Plastics
Orthopedics
Neurology
OB/GYN
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while working independently and collaboratively.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with physicians, leadership, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to maintain confidentiality while exercising sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn department-specific software applications.
Commitment to maintaining regular and reliable attendance.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience serving as a lead, preceptor, charge, or informal clinical leader within an operating room environment.
Experience coordinating surgical service line operations, preference cards, inventory management, or equipment implementation.
Experience participating in quality improvement initiatives, process improvement, or staff education.

Job Specific Duties:
Performs all OR Tech duties per scope of practice and assigned department procedure and protocol.
Serves as a champion for driving moral, efficiency and cost saving initiatives.
Reviews schedule to verify availability of supplies and equipment for upcoming procedures.
Reviews, edits, and verifies accuracy of service line preference cards. Facilitates annual review process of preference cards with providers.
Partners with Materials Management staff to ensure par level of soft goods remains consistent, facilitates repair and replacement procedure of service line equipment and instrumentation, communicates provider requests for new soft goods or equipment, and facilitates scheduling of equipment/product trials.
Serves as liaison between assigned staff, service line providers and other stakeholders.
Assists with onboarding of new providers and assigned staff per department procedure and protocol.
Provides education and in-services for new products/equipment with guidance from the vendor specialty educator.
Lead may be expected to perform one (1) or more of the following tasks regularly:
Creates work schedule and assigns employees to specific work tasks.
Trains or coordinates the training of employees.
Oversees and coordinates successful completion of employees’ competency assessments and required training.
Acts as point-of-contact/subject matter expert for employee questions about expectations and processes.
Assists in interviewing job candidates.
Leads or coordinates compliance and quality efforts.
Other duties as assigned at the discretion of management, excluding issuing corrective actions or administering performance evaluations.
