We are looking for a high energy and caring person to fill the Program Assistant position working with our 60 amazing residents.
The Program Assistant is responsible for working in conjunction with the Program Coordinator in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating all facets of the activities program of Plymouth Harbor’s Assisted Living/Memory Care facility in accordance with current Federal and State rules and regulations and Plymouth Harbor’s established policies and procedures. Work Schedule: Full Time- Varied shifts DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment, throughout Plymouth Harbor’s AL/MC.
Welcome new residents to the AL/MC and initiate a positive relationship.
Visit AL/MC residents to provide socialization, encourage attendance at appropriate group activities, encourage involvement in appropriate individual and/or independent activities, provide stimulation, and assist in meeting the individual needs/goals of each resident’s interdisciplinary care plan.
Develop positive working relationships with staff members at all levels to facilitate understanding and support of each resident’s individual activities needs.
Maintain departmental work areas, equipment, and supplies in a clean, sanitary, and orderly fashion; perform general housekeeping duties including rearranging furniture, cleaning up after refreshments, picking up litter from floor, and returning equipment and/or supplies to appropriate storage areas.
Transport residents to areas where activities and programs are being held.
Assist in the provision of meals and snacks to MC residents, as needed.
Coordinate birthday celebrations for AL/MC residents.
Participate in completing required documentation for MC residents in a timely fashion.
Attend and participate as an integral member in departmental and other meetings as assigned.
Attend and participate in appropriate in-service training programs.
Be familiar with Plymouth Harbor’s policies and procedures related to the delivery of activities and participate in ensuring adherence to adopted policies and procedures.
Communicate scheduled activities to appropriate residents, family members, staff, and volunteers by methods including posting large monthly calendars, distributing small monthly calendars, posting signs for special events and sending personal invitations.
Recognize abnormal signs and symptoms that signify a physical change in resident’s condition that would require nursing intervention. Report it to Charge Nurse immediately.
Be alert to conditions that may present a hazard to residents, staff, and/or visitors. Report any such condition promptly.
Be familiar with the Fire Evacuation Plan and Disaster Plan.
Coordinate programs and activities with other departments as directed.
Maintain confidentiality in all matters.
Maintain and utilize a reference library that will assist in providing a quality activity program.
Perform office duties as assigned.
Initiate and implement individual activities and group programs and events targeting the physical, mental, spiritual, creative, and psychosocial needs of the residents as recommended by the Program Coordinator.
Operate a wide range of audio-visual equipment.
Decorate for holidays and special events.
Work safely complying at all times with Plymouth Harbor safety standards.
Discharge properly such other responsibilities and duties as the Program Coordinator, Director of Nursing, or Administrator may direct.
Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, and mandatory in-services as approved or required.
Maintain work area, equipment and supplies in a clean, sanitary and organized manner.
Ensure that work areas are neat and confidential materials are properly stored before leaving area on breaks, end of work day, etc.
Work safely; complying at all times with Plymouth Harbor safety standards.
Call 555 in the event of an emergency.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Minimum high school plus specialized training in a vocational occupation or equivalent.
Minimum one year working with residents in a long-term care setting.
Must have good organizational skills.
Must be a detail-oriented person and able to perform duties with great accuracy on a daily basis.
Must have excellent personal skills, demonstrating the ability to conduct oneself in a non-controversial style; a style that inspires the respect of others and promotes a sense of trust in the individual’s competence.
Must have good communication skills; speaking, writing, and listening.
Must be fluent in English.
Must have good computer skills.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs with emphasis on Outlook, Publisher, and Word, with the ability to learn and use proprietary software as required.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS
This position does not require any certificate/license/registration.
