Responsibilities
As part of the region’s largest health system, you will join a collaborative Perioperative Services team that supports a wide range of high‑acuity surgical specialties, including trauma, neurosurgery, orthopedics, plastics, gynecology, vascular access, oral and maxillofacial surgery and general surgery. The RN Educator, Perioperative Services plays a critical role in supporting staff across Pre‑Operative Education, Short Stay and Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit, ensuring safe, consistent, and evidence‑based perioperative care.
In this role, you will plan and coordinate orientation and onboarding for new hires and transfers, ensuring staff are prepared to safely care for high‑acuity patients across all age groups. You will design, deliver and evaluate staff education, competency fairs and ongoing learning initiatives while serving as a mentor and trusted clinical resource for nurses and ancillary staff. You will maintain hands‑on involvement in patient care to support clinical competence, regulatory compliance and credibility with perioperative teams, including providing guidance during complex or high‑risk situations. You will also lead the Unit Practice Council, collaborate with interdisciplinary partners, and support staff‑identified problem solving and performance improvement efforts.
