A Learning Specialist is responsible for:
- Managing individual workstreams on projects in collaboration with the BMA team.
- Preparing and contributing to in-depth design documents that outline a learner-centric solution
- Creating content in accordance with Blue Matter’s high standards, including building slides or other course materials; writing scenarios, case studies, facilitator notes and video scripts, e-learning modules; creating and/or using tools to measure learning; and securing materials and resources to design and develop content from start to finish (Note: Graphics support is available)
- Collaborating with internal customers and continually interacting with them in a positive, professional manner
- Conducting needs assessments and analysis that may include conducting interviews, focus groups, and secondary research
- Analyzing learning gaps and identifying solutions for closing those gaps through learning solutions
- Facilitating or delivering content virtually or in-person as required
- Actively collecting feedback from learners, stakeholders, and the project team to identify opportunities for continuous improvement
- Administering the Learning Management System, supporting users, and troubleshooting system issues
- Utilizing proven instructional techniques in program and content design
- Liaising with the Operations team to understand how BMA can support them locally and to identify opportunities for collaboration
A Learning Specialist will know:
- PowerPoint like the back of their hand
- Past, present, and emerging learning theories, science, and technology
- Microsoft Suite of tools
- The basic tenets and purpose of Learning Management Systems
- Content design / development tools (e.g. Captivate or Rise)

Qualifications / Skill Requirements:
- An insatiable passion for learning
- Bachelor’s college degree is a must; Master’s degree from a reputable college is preferred. Field of study should preferably be related to learning or instructional design
- At least 6-8 years of learning and development experience, preferably in the life sciences or consulting industries
- Demonstrated success in assessing needs and designing and developing creative and unique solutions for adult learners across modalities - live, virtual, job aid, video, e-learning, micro-learning, PDFs, self-directed learning guide, or any other ideas - we’d love to hear them!
- Experience working with analytics, technology, operations, or market research teams strongly preferred
- Exposure to data analytics concepts such as regression, segmentation, forecasting, experimentation, or AI/ML preferred
- Familiarity with pharma commercial analytics, HEOR analytics, patient analytics, or market research in life sciences preferred
- Experience building structured onboarding programs for technical or consulting teams
- Structured communicator, MINTO principle adherent, can summarize and deliver key facts and supporting reasons concisely and coherently
- Polished professional when engaging with clients or presenting information
- Business acumen of the pharmaceutical industry and operating structures of global, multi-national corporations preferred
- An understanding of project and change management concepts and techniques
- Demonstrated success at managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines
- Strategic thinking skills to address critical business issues
- Experience using PowerPoint, SharePoint, and One Drive
- Experience using and building content for a Learning Management System
- Humility and a sense of humor; we have fun too!
- Ability to work during east coast working hours and to travel nationally and internationally 15 – 20 % of the time
Additional Responsibilities (Practice-Relevant):
- Design and deliver learning programs tailored to Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Technology implementation, Operations excellence, and Market Research teams
- Translate complex analytical, technical, or operational concepts into structured, learner-centric training content
- Partner with Analytics, Technology, and Operations leaders to identify capability gaps across technical and consulting skillsets
- Develop onboarding and upskilling curricula for analysts, data scientists, engineers, and insights professionals
- Create learning pathways across technical (e.g., tools, methodologies) and business-facing (e.g., storytelling, client communication) competencies
- Support capability building in advanced analytics methodologies (e.g., predictive modeling, segmentation, forecasting, AI/ML concepts)
- Build programs that enhance consulting toolkit skills including problem structuring, hypothesis-driven analysis, and executive storytelling
- Measure impact of learning programs through performance metrics tied to delivery quality, project outcomes, and client satisfaction
- Enable operational excellence training (SOP adherence, quality assurance frameworks, process documentation best practices)
