Job Description

Job Summary: The Product Engineer acts as the owner of an investment casting product portfolio, which covers all manufacturing processes including wax, shell, cast and post-cast processes. Investment casting product portfolios may include aerospace, automotive & defense market segments. The Product Engineer will interface directly with the customer and is also responsible for the review and approval of all technical drawings, models and specifications.    Prime Responsibilities: 1.         Work within Engineering to design, implement and maintain processes, injection tooling, fixture/gages to manufacture investment castings to customer specifications 2.         Plan, coordinate, and execute on project plans across various multidisciplinary teams 3.         Complete manufacturing documentation and work with the Quality team to obtain customer approvals, as required, to qualify product introduction and product improvements. 4.         Team based interface with customer technical personnel to ensure product quality and manufacturability which may include recommending design or process alterations 5.         Investigates and initiates corrective actions on manufacturing problems for products and processes 6.         Coordinate with Quality to review, evaluate & implement engineering changes and/or other specification requirements 7.         Responsible for statistical data analysis of both process and product specific outputs to drive key decisions for improvement. 8.         Owner of analysis and evaluation of production practices which include: Work simplification, value analysis, workstations & methods analysis.  Compiling and evaluating test and production data, preparing technical analysis Recommending production methods and processes required to meet design objectives on new or improved products and processes Continuous improvement of product yields and manufacturability Conducting analysis of method and time standards 9.         May lead specific and targeted product and/or process improvement efforts utilizing LEAN techniques and philosophies 10.       Must be capable of delivering on commitments in a timely and efficient manner   Additional Responsibilities: 1.         May be involved in training and developing less experienced technical personnel. 2.         Observe the Hitchiner code of conduct, safety and quality principles. 3.         Perform other duties as assigned.   Minimum Acceptable Qualifications: 1.         Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 2-4 years of experience or equivalent knowledge 2.         Familiar with a variety of concepts within the field of mechanical/manufacturing:  Heat transfer  Material solidification Manufacturing technologies (metals, plastics, ceramics)  Metallurgical/Material Science Technical drawings (GD&T)  3.         Must possess good communication and organizational skills. 4.         Computer literacy is a must, including competency in general MS Office applications, technical computer modeling and statistical tools. 5.         Project management experience in keeping with budgetary & time constraints
