Contracted Time: 10 hours per week as directed by the Director of Sport during term and non-term time. This will include contact and admin time which must be carried out on campus.

                                

Main Job Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Follows and upholds the school policies and missions statement of Bangkok International Preparatory & Secondary School
  • Plans and organises aspects of the Tennis programme as directed by DoS and Head of Tennis within the Sports and Physical Education Department
  • Instructs and demonstrates skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team development.
  • Ensures that team rules and regulations regarding conduct and eligibility of the athletes are clearly communicated and followed.
  • Plans, organises, advertises and conducts trials for the tennis programme; inform the Sports and Physical Education Department and participants of final selections.
  • Provides information regarding rules for the season (training schedule, camp schedule, trial criteria, etc.)
  • Maintains the integrity of the selection process through the use of SOCS.
  • Confirms the scheduled bus transportation with the PE Admin Assistant.
  •  Travels with student athletes on the team bus both to and from competitions.
  •  Checks and secures all PE office, storage room, outside doors, locker rooms and all lights after last person leaves, after games and practices.
  •  Consults with the Director of Sport regarding any off-season training programmes, including scheduling dates for summer camps/practices, uniform fitting, pre-post trial informational parent meetings.
  •  Ensures consistent and accurate information is given to students and parents throughout each season using email and Google Classroom.
  •  Creates a safe environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  •  Ensure that Safeguarding and Child Protection Procedures are followed effectively.
  •  Maintains strong interpersonal skills.
  •  Works well with others from diverse backgrounds.
  •  Focuses on solving conflict, maintaining confidentiality, listening to others, keeping emotions under control, remaining open to others’ ideas and contributing to building a positive team spirit.
  •  Works directly with school nurses in reporting injuries, teaching precautions and procedures to ensure staff/student safety and help students prevent injuries.
  •  Fills out the accidental report within 24 hours even if the student athlete does not see a physician.
  •  Models good sportsmanship behaviour and maintains appropriate conduct towards opposing team, supporters, parents, officials, spectators and community.
  • Appropriately uses the school's social media channels to celebrate and raise the profile of their sport and the student athletes competing in their sport.
  • Assists with the scheduling, organising and delivery of tournaments within their sport.

Qualification & Key Competency:

  • Internationally-recognised Coaching Certificate
  • Ability to organise and supervise aspects within a Whole School Tennis programme
  • Previous experience required
  • Good command of spoken and written English (desirable)
  • Good computer skills would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of technical aspects of the assigned sport and willingness to continue to learn and examine new ideas pertinent to the assigned sport
  • Role model that coincides with Bangkok Prep’ core values
