Position Overview:
The Manufacturing Supervisor works closely with the Manufacturing Manager and Plant Manager to ensure the safe and efficient production of quality products that meet customer expectations while providing effective leadership to his/her production team.
Duties And Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Manufacturing Manager, the Manufacturing Supervisor responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Coordinates and supervises activities of equipment and personnel throughout the facility with a focus on optimizing Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity and Waste Reduction.
- Supports the plant Safety culture and conducts various safety reviews of equipment, procedures and activities along with conducting behavioral based safety observations and Gemba walks.
- Reviews, analyzes and acts to achieve continuous improvement in areas of safety, quality, and productivity.
- Reviews and supports the scheduling process to meet production needs while optimizing shift performance KPI’s.
- Conducts required team meetings and safety training.
- Communicates all pertinent information between departments and between shifts on changes to equipment, production schedules, production problems or any other related information.
- Provides effective leadership to hourly employees through coaching and performance management to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Works with employees on identifying, discussing solutions and implementing “fixes” on machinery and equipment problems.
- Performs and facilitates “on the job training” and/or coaching of all employees as needed or required.
- Completes and/or administers accurate and timely documentation of various shift activities such as production reports, process control requirements, employee time & attendance, employee training, employee coaching & discipline actions and other documents as required.
- Interfaces with internal and external vendors to provide parts, support and training as it relates to production and maintenance.
- Applies knowledge of various processes, production methods and processes to improve plant production.
- Manages machinery set-up and adjustment and inspects products to ensure compliance to standards.
- Supports the Quality Management System, including Safe Quality Food (SQF) certification requirements and recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimal performance to ensure all production meets internal/external specifications.
- Supports the plant’s Daily Management System and ensures all Lean systems and activities are sustained and improved.
- Spends a significant percentage of work hours on the shop floor, engaging the team.
- Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:
Minimum Requirements
- High School Education/GED
- Five to seven years of experience in a highspeed manufacturing environment
- At least three years of proven supervisory experience
- Strong commitment to safety.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills with ability to coach and motivate employees.
- Effective time management and project management skills
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficient computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and Power Point.
- Must be available to work various shifts if needed and be able to work nights, weekends, and overtime to cover absences or provide additional support
- Ability to travel out of state for training and development
Preferred Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Packaging industry experience
- Knowledge and experience with Lean Manufacturing.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma, SPC, and Lean Manufacturing

Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- The associate may lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus
Working Conditions
- Generally, works in a plant environment but will be required to perform some job duties inside a typical office setting.
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic.
- The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures.
- The noise level is frequently loud.
