In this role, you will take technical ownership of the high-throughput cloud infrastructure that powers our Virtual Terminal, Invoicing, Recurring Billing engines, and hosted checkout solutions, directly ensuring that millions of global transactions are processed seamlessly every day.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the design, end-to-end development, and cloud deployment of scalable software applications and microservices to support Clover’s payment processing ecosystem.
  • Partner deeply with cross-functional product, design, and architecture teams to gather complex requirements and translate business goals into clean, maintainable technical specifications.
  • Perform rigorous coding, testing, and proactive debugging of backend components to guarantee optimal latency, fault isolation, and transaction reliability.
  • Maintain, refactor, and evolve existing core payment codebases while leading architectural design and peer code review processes to uphold elite engineering standards.

  • Data Layer Architecture: Strong, practical experience modeling complex data using relational databases, specifically MySQL or Oracle.
  • Orchestration & Scale: Hands-on experience developing, containerizing, and deploying production workloads within a Kubernetes (K8s) environment.
  • Major Cloud Infrastructure: Demonstrated track record designing and managing distributed architectures on a major cloud provider ecosystem, such as AWS, Google Cloud (GCP), or Azure.
  • Platform Mindset: Ability to generalize complex business processes and build simple, flexible, and extensible core domain services that cleanly support multiple consumer products.
  • API Design: Deep expertise in designing, versioning, and maintaining secure, performant RESTful APIs for web and mobile clients.
  • DevOps & Problem Solving: Strong proficiency with Git, automated testing frameworks, and managing CI/CD pipelines, combined with exceptional troubleshooting skills to resolve system bottlenecks independently.

Experience That Would Be Great to Have

  • Payment Domain Expertise: Deep experience within the fintech, POS, or e-commerce industries, specifically managing Credit Card (CC) and ACH processing workflows.
  • System Hardening & PCI Data: Robust understanding of secure payment processing, including handling sensitive PCI data, tokenization, compliance standards (PCI DSS), and core cryptography (encryption/decryption).
  • Full-Stack Exposure: Hands-on experience or familiarity working across multiple parts of the application stack, specifically using JavaScript or modern front-end web user interfaces.
