This is a Primary Care APRN position that will see patients in the Berea Primary Care Clinic.  The two week rotating schedule consists of 10 hour shifts, allowing for every other weekend off.

BASIC FUNCTION
Provide primary care services, including assessing, diagnosing, treatment planning and coordination, and managing patients in the clinic, following established standards and practices.
 
PRINCIPLE DUTIES
  1. Complete patient exams/procedures and record findings from complete medical history and physical exams.  Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.  Complete in-scope procedures as appropriate.  Interpret and integrate data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan.
  2. Conduct one on one patient teaching and education.
  3. Participate in Quality Assurance activities and chart reviews.
  4. Discuss case with Physician and other care team professionals, when/as needed to prepare comprehensive patient care plan.
  5. Prescribe or recommend drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures. Administer medications and injections in compliance with state law and clinic guidelines. 
  6. Refers patients to Physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment. 
  7. Demonstrate appropriate work habits which include:
    1. Arriving on time for clinical sessions and/or meetings.
    2. Communicating appropriately with patients, other providers, and care team members, and returning patient/provider phone calls as promptly as possible.
    3. Utilizing appropriate infection control measures.
  8. Collaborate with Medical Director and other provider staff members in development and periodic updating of standards of care, principles of practice, standing orders and/or clinical protocols (including those governing mid-level providers).
  9. As requested, participate with professional and allied health training programs in student and resident rotations.
  10. Assist in recruitment and orientation of new staff.
  11. As assigned, attend meetings or make presentations to community groups, associations, or other health organizations as a representative of the organization.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum EducationSuccessful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program.  BSN, MSN preferred.
Minimum ExperienceMinimum of 3 years of professional nursing experience in a clinic setting plus at least 1 year of nurse practitioner experience.
Required License: Active Nurse Practitioner licensed in the state of Kentucky.  Certification by national certifying organization.
 
ACCOUNTABILITY
Accountable to the Chief Medical Officer, and ultimately the Chief Executive Officer.
 
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
A position exempt from wage and hour laws; requires hours in excess of 40 per week including night and holiday work from time to time.  Work is performed in a health care environment, particularly a medical office, with exposure to communicable diseases.  Position may include possible exposure to aggressive or violent patients, and requires the ability to work under stressful conditions, often for long periods of time.
 
SALARY
Starting at $98,000, based on experience.
