Job Description

Team Summary:

Visa’s Digital Ecosystems and Strategic Partnerships Team is a client-facing organization focused on shaping Visa’s digital ecosystems strategy, market narrative and commercial partnership across Indonesia. The team develops and expands partnerships with leading digital-native brands, merchants, super-apps, fintechs, digital banks, payment gateways, facilitators, and technology platforms.

What a Senior Director, Head of Digital Ecosystem and Strategic Partnership does at Visa:

Based in Jakarta, this role reports to the Indonesia Country Manager and leads a dynamic business development team responsible for accelerating Visa’s growth with Indonesia’s most important digital ecosystem partners. The role owns country strategy and execution for strategic ecosystem partnerships, with accountability for revenue growth, market expansion and partner impact across fintech and digital banks, wallets, e-commerce, retail, online travel agencies (OTAs), on-demand services, healthcare and payment acceptance providers.

Leadership responsibilities cover all aspects of account strategy, executing deals, developing the team, and scaling up the partnership outcomes.

  • Lead market and industry trend analysis across for Indonesia, define clear account priorities across key accounts, tier-one accounts, and greenfield opportunities; and optimize coverage and account allocation based on team capability, relationship depth, and commercial potential.
  • Own and drive standardized, high-quality account planning across strategic partners, identifying high-value collaboration opportunities and innovative use cases by connecting Visa’s capabilities across Consumer Payments, Commercial & Money Movement, and Value-Added Services.
  • Scale payment acceptance, usage, and authorization performance through ecosystem distribution across online and offline channels, while expanding Visa into underpenetrated verticals and use cases.
  • Lead end-to-end partnership strategy and commercial execution, including executive engagement, pipeline governance, opportunity qualification, business case development, negotiation, proof-of-concept design, contract closure, and post-launch scale-up.
  • Build, coach, and develop a high-performing business development team; set clear goals and operating disciplines; remove cross-functional roadblocks; and secure the resources needed for efficient execution.
  • Develop annual operating plans and partnership strategies, monitor performance and pipeline health, and provide clear updates to senior leadership on progress, risks, and business outcomes.

Projects you will be a part of:

  • Shape Visa’s next phase of growth by building strategic partnerships with Indonesia’s leading digital ecosystem players across payments, acceptance, and money movement.
  • Bring new partnership models and payment use cases to market, turning strategic opportunities into scaled commercial outcomes.
  • Help define the future of commerce in Indonesia by identifying emerging trends and converting them into high-impact initiatives.

Why this is important to Visa:

This role is critical to advancing Visa’s growth in Indonesia by strengthening Visa’s position across the country’s most important digital payment ecosystems. It will help accelerate acceptance, expand flows across consumer payments, commercial payments, and money movement, and bring Visa’s network, products, and value-added services to market through strategic partnerships that drive client relevance and business impact.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

What you will need:

  • 15+ years of commercial leadership experience in technology, payments, fintech, consulting, or adjacent sectors; experience in account management, strategic partnerships, or business development is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of Indonesia’s digital payments landscape, including fintech, digital banking, wallets, merchant acquiring, and platform ecosystems.
  • Proven success in establishing and scaling strategic partnerships that generate revenue, ideally across merchants, platforms, fintechs, wallets, and multi-party commercial arrangements. Strong consultative selling with the ability to translate partner needs into compelling business solutions.
  • Expert negotiation and deal-structuring capability, including comfort with complex contracts, commercial models, incentives, and governance structures.
  • Strong people leadership, with the ability to hire, develop, inspire, and retain high-performing teams that consistently deliver business results.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through complexity and ambiguity, build new business motions without an established playbook, and pioneer new use cases with customers and partners.
  • Strong program management and cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to align executives and coordinate multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia, both written and spoken, with strong cross-cultural communication skills.

What will also help:

  • Deep experience in one or more relevant verticals, such as e-commerce and retail, on-demand services, online travel, digital wallets, fintech, or digital banking.
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI-enabled tools and data-driven workflows to identify ecosystem opportunities, prioritize strategic partners, strengthen commercial proposals, and improve decision quality, while applying sound judgment on responsible AI use.
