JOB TITLE Family Liaison
SUMMARY It is the responsibility of this position to foster strong partnerships between families and the school by facilitating communication, providing support services, and promoting active engagement in the school community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties and responsibilities may be assigned)
- Bridge the gap between families and the school community by fostering communication and supporting family engagement.
- Assist families in accessing school resources, including academic programs, tutoring, extracurricular activities, counseling services, and mental health support.
- Work with students and families to promote regular school attendance and address barriers to consistent attendance.
- Conduct home visits to support home-school connections and address attendance or other concerns.
- Serve as the primary contact for families seeking assistance and ensure they are connected to appropriate school staff and/or resources.
- Collaborate with Student Services and other school personnel to support student intervention planning.
- Provide language support and interpretation as needed to ensure clear communication with non-English speaking families.
- Support the development and implementation of family education programs, including workshops on academic success, school policies, and community resources.
- Engage families in leadership opportunities, such as BPAC (Bilingual Parent Advisory Council), and other school decision-making processes.
- Regularly attend meetings with community partners to strengthen relationships and coordinate resources that support families and students.
- Collaborate with the Family Outreach Coordinator and other staff members to assess needs and develop programs that engage families in school activities and academic planning.
- Help families navigate the Home Access Center to monitor student grades, attendance, and discipline.
- Assist with coordination and communication of school events and programs to families, ensuring accessibility and understanding.
- Track and maintain accurate records of family interactions and student progress, including attendance, academic performance, and goal-setting.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of family engagement initiatives through data analysis and feedback collection.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- None
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's or associate degree in human services, social work, child development, or related field preferred
- Previous family liaison or social work experience preferred
- ?Reliable transportation and valid driver's license and car insurance
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Must be able to perform all of the duties and responsibilities of the position
- Ability to communicate effectively and accurately, both orally and in writing, in English
- Ability to communicate effectively and accurately, both orally and in writing, in Spanish
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external constituents
- ?Ability to work independently, stay on task, multi-task, problem-solve, and take responsibility to complete assigned projects and duties in a timely and efficient manner
