Our adult and geriatric psychiatry specialists work with psychologists, social workers, mental health assistants, psychiatric nurses, dietitians, and occupational and physical therapists to provide the newest approved treatments. We provide 24-hour care for adults aged 55 and older on a dedicated floor in our new Epstein Center for Behavioral Health.

- Occupational therapy assessment
- Ongoing psychiatric care and psychopharmacology

- Psychological and neuropsychological evaluation

We also provide the following services to help ease the transition back to home for older patients and their families:
- Psychiatric outpatient services
- Partial hospitalization program
- Home care
- Mass General Brigham At Home can also coordinate medication assessments, nursing and rehabilitation therapy for patients returning to their homes.
We are looking for a full-time, 40-hour Nurse Practitioner to work (5) 8-hour, day shifts Monday-Friday on our inpatient unit at Salem Hospital. This position will assume the role of responding clinician in the assessment and care of patients, including diagnosis, treatment, education, and management of the patient, in particular the patient awaiting admission to a psychiatric inpatient facility.

Essential Functions
-Assesses, diagnoses, and treats the patients for urgent and emergent conditions, related to their behavioral or substance abuse issues.
-Provides age appropriate care to patients across the life span.
-Performs medically delegated aspects of patient care as agreed upon by nursing and medical administrators according to practice guidelines, such as ordering and interpreting lab and diagnostic testing.
-Prescribes medication and orders therapeutic treatments.
-Develops and assists in the development of Acute Care Plans for repeat patients.
-Provides expert consultation to other nursing, physician and hospital staff in order to maximize the opportunity to provide the most appropriate treatment and maintain safety of the patient and the staff.
-Serves as a patient and family advocate and facilitates ethical and patient-centered decision making within the care teams.
-Determines level of care needs for patients and initiates referrals, transfers, and consultations as needed for behavioral health and substance abuse disorders.
