Job Description
A cable locator is a specialized technician responsible for identifying and marking the location of underground utilities to prevent damage during excavation activities.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to Call Tickets to locate underground utilities.
- Correctly, safely, and efficiently locate electric cable.
- Thoroughly search for underground utilities in a designated area, accurately marking the location.
- Complete necessary documentation and photograph each locate for record-keeping.
- Interpret utility maps and as-built drawings to determine the path of underground utilities.
- Communicate effectively with construction crews, contractors, and property owners.
- Prepare written documents verifying marked utilities after damages.
- Distinguish colors to mark utilities with the designated color for the corresponding utility.
Qualifications:
- Experience in utility locating or a related field.
- Proficiency in using utility locating equipment to detect and map underground utilities.
- Ability to read and interpret utility maps/prints.
- Own a reliable vehicle.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in various environmental conditions.
