Job Requirements

Power Plant DCS Hardware Design Engineer

Responsible for the design of power plant monitoring and control systems (DCS, SCADA, PLC and Special Function Controllers) and related control devices/subsystems used for data acquisition, automatic process control, safety & reliability systems and operator stations/interfaces. An ideal candidate is expected to have the following:

  • Deep understanding of customer (power plant owners) requirements (plant layout, monitoring & control requirements of power plant (Generator, GT, ST, Boiler, HRSG, BoP and Auxiliaries – respective open loop, closed loop controls and protection interlocks), P&ID, and Functional Design Specifications
  • Ability to design the entire control system (architecture, network, cybersecurity, IO distribution and system layout) in collaboration with related technical departments, as well as creating system architecture, high-level designs and specifications.
  • Design and develop control system hardware architecture for Power Plants in compliance with relevant safety and environmental ratings, I/O allocation and hardware sizing calculations
  • Preparation of specifications and instructions to share with respective departments for detailed engineering and also to manufacturing team. And provide guidance and support
  • Prepare system hardware configuration drawings and architecture diagrams. Review vendor documentation and technical submittals
  • Extend support Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT).
  • Knowledge of applicable international standards (IEC, EMI, EMC, Cyber Security, EU CE Marking etc.)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in design and detail engineering of one or more established DCS used in power plants. Example: Diasys Netamation, MELSEP, HIACS, TOSMAP, SPPA T3000, Mark VIe, Symphony Plus, 800xA, Emerson, Honeywell, Centum etc

Role Summary:

Responsible for end-to-end hardware design and engineering of DCS and control systems for power plants, including architecture development, I/O design, vendor coordination, and support across FAT/SAT and execution phases.

 Required Skills and Experience

  • Hands-on working experience in design control panels, marshalling cabinets, interlock & relay panels, and network cabinets.
  • Experience in creating high-level specifications to share with detailed design team, manufacturing team and external vendors/suppliers
  • Guiding and supporting detailed design team to prepare detailed engineering artifacts such as Cabinet GA & FV, Internal Layout, Cable Tray Layout, Wiring Diagrams, Interconnection Drawings, Cable Schedules, Terminal Plans, Bill of Materials
  •  Proficiency in tools such as AutoCAD, MS Visio, U-SEC/EPLAN, Triangle Microworks, MS Office

 Experience

  • 10+ years in Control System application engineering for power plants with a minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience in DCS hardware engineering.

 Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent.

  • Guide detailed engineering teams for cabinets, wiring, and layouts

Technical Requirements:

  • Strong experience with DCS platforms (e.g., Mark VIe, 800xA, SPPA T3000, Emerson, Honeywell)
  • Expertise in control panels, marshalling cabinets, and network systems
  • Knowledge of IEC, EMI/EMC, and cybersecurity standards
  • Tools: AutoCAD, EPLAN/U-SEC, MS Visio
